Art Deco 6 Slip Shade Top-of-the-Line Chandelier This fine light has an original antiqued metal finish in outstanding condition for its age. Yes, the finish does show its age here and there...but for an antique, pretty good. VERY nice are that each reticulated panel between the shades...between each slip shade...has a mica panel behind the reticulations for a very outstanding quality affect. The amber shades are also in pretty good condition. There are patches of minor roughness from being removed and replaced after changing light bulbs. But overall...pretty good. They are all original with those dark purple accents both to the slip shades and the bottom shade, but a little less pronounced on the bottom shade. Measurements: * Height: 27 " * Diameter: ~ 17" Can be lengthened by adding a little extra chain. Please contact us for information & pricing. Art Deco - Lovely Pair of 1920s Art Deco Wall Sconces Original antique sconces, with an original poly-chrome coloring...although...like a good oriental carpet, it is subdued and mellow, and even has some wear. The finish is in pretty good condition for all this time, though it probably could be brightened up. However, we like antiques to look like antiques, so will leave it to the next owner to make that final finish decision. The shades are really quite subdued, and do not detract from the lovely poly-chrome backplates. With a strong bulb, they give an ambiance that is quite antique. We took our picture with a 15 watt bulb so the camera would focus on the light and shade detail...not get blown out by too strong of a bulb. Measurements: * Height: 9 ¾" overall. * Width: 4 ½" (maximum) * Projection: 5" from the wall into the room. * Backplate Footprint: 8" tall x 4 ¼" wide. These sconces have been completely rewired in our UL shop with new sockets and all new wire. We have also replaced the rotary switches, made by Leviton in the 20s and still made up to three years ago. So these switches are becoming even more antique as we note this. Art Deco 6 Shade Chandelier by Markel...Two Available! Antique Art Deco slip shade 6-shade chandelier by Markel. This light, circa 1935, was part of their "8800 Series". This chandelier was Model 8836, which was top-of-the-line for this 8800 series. Their 1930s catalog says it has a spread of 20". Markel was one of the biggest companies working in the Great Depression, and had locations in America, Canada, and Australia. They made a lot of the antique slip shade fixtures seen in antique shops today, and were a quality company. Red bronze finish. The finish, while being cleaned up a mite, is original and simply beautiful to the max. You cannot find a much better antique red bronze finish slip shade chandelier than this one. Wonderful condition. The shades are simply a treat, and in remarkable condition. Probably made by Consolidated Glass or another quality glass house. It is worth mentioning that the slip shades are larger than normal. They really have a presence. Compared to other slip shades...and compared to American normal slip shades...these are BIG. Bronze & Nickel Pair of Globe Electrolier Cup Slip Shade Art Deco Sconces Cast bronze sconce backplates, and elements with Nickel plated fitters by Globe in the 1930s. Parts of the original Electrolier label is still on the sconces, as seen. A nice touch. Globe is a unique company, and not as common as Lincoln or Markel, but they did some very exciting things. Their brand name was Electrolier, and while some folks assume that there was a company named Electrolier, it was simply a brand that Globe marketed and labeled onto many of their lights. The shades are in wonderful condition, without any chips or cracks other than a tiny bit of roughness where they go into the fitter. And these shades are quality. The raised concentric rings can be accomplished due to the thickness of these shades. A quality offering. Measurements: * Height: 8 ½" * Width: 6" * Projection: 7 ½" from the wall into the room. This chandelier is finely cast, and has a great original old gold finish. The finish does have some minor thinning and missing finish here and there, as any good antique does...but it also has a nice, mellow appearance. Most antiquers would not touch this lovely...aged...finish. You can see examples of the missing finish in our pictures. We did not want to restore it, as we think that the next owner should make that decision. Measurements: * Height: 24" * Diameter: 20 ½" from shade-tip to shade-tip. Art Deco Solid Bronze Sconces by Mid-West Circa 1935 Mid-West was a top-of-the-line manufacturer, who in their beginning, only cast solid bronze lights...even those that were exceedingly difficult. So...here we have a pair of top-of-the-line, near-mint sconces in solid bronze, circa 1935 (in their catalog of 1936). Their gorgeous amber with ruby accented shades are simply beautiful. A reference to Mid-West talks about a board meeting held during the Depression, where some members of the board argued to change their materials from bronze to a cheaper offerings, since they were afraid that customers would not be available to purchase the higher-end lighting that they made due to the financial downturn of the Depression. The Mid-West CEO/President denied the idea of substituting, and stated that there are always people with money. While they did not stop casting fabulous bronze lights, they also added an aluminum line to compete with Lincoln Mnf, who was selling to Sears. Sears customers, during the Depression, would not normally come up to the pricing level of Bronze Materials. The CEO was correct. Mid-West survived the Depression, and was sold a few years ago to a large lighting conglomerate.
