Look Mamma Etching By Seymour Joseph Guy, N.A. 1886
This is a large and great impression of a rare Seymour Joseph print because of it's plate size.
In an age where most painters did not etch or engrave their own work, Seymour did and did a great job.
Sheet size is 11.5'' by 15''.
eymour Joseph Guy established a reputation in the United States in the mid-nineteenth century as one of the finest genre painters of children. His primarily cabinet-sized pictures were esteemed by his fellow artists and leading collectors of American art. He was widely respected for his technical ability and knowledge of the science of painting, but with the emergence of a younger generation of European-trained artists in the 1880s, Guy’s meticulous and smoothly polished scenes of childhood began to fall out of fashion. In recent decades his art and talent have been reappraised by museums, scholars, and collectors of early American art, but up to now almost nothing has been published about his life and career. « Less

Ernest David Roth (1879 — 1964) was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1879 and, at the age of five, immigrated with his parents to the United States. He studied painting at the National Academy of Design under George Maynard and Edgar Ward and at the New York School of Art under F. Luis Mora. Roth was a regular contributor to shows at the National Academy and the Pennsylvania Academy. In his painting and etching, Roth concentrated on simple architectural views, rarely including people in his scenes. He has received awards from the Salmagundi Club in 1911, 1912, 1915, 1917 and 1918, from the Chicago Society of Etchers in 1914 and 1936, from the Society of American Etchers in 1935 and from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1930. He received a silver medal for etching and a bronze medal for painting at the Panama-Pacific Exposition in 1915.
Here we have a great etching, measuring 10.75 inches by 8 inches, plate signed on wove paper, in good condition with little discoloration outside of the etched work. Not noticeable when professionally matted. This and four others are all from an outstanding Coral Gables, FL Collection. « Less

This is an etching of J.F. Millet by A.Cadart after a Alauze painting. This is an original fine art etching.
Adolphe Lalauze A French 19th century etcher and illustrator, Adolphe Lalauze first gained employment as a recording controller and then studied art in Paris under Gaucherel. Early in his career he concentrated mostly upon original etching, with many of his works in this medium initially commissioned by Cadart in Paris.
Cadart, Delatre and the Societe des aqua-Fortistes: This original etching was published by France’s first important publisher of the etching revival. In 1862 Cadart founded the Societe des aqua-Fortistes. Until its demise in 1867, it was responsible for publishing some of the greatest French art from this important decade. Around 1870, Cadart (along with Luquet) reopened his publishing house and continued to commission original etchings from such masters as Jongkind, Bracquemond, Manet, Ribot and many others. Almost all of the fine etchings published by Cadart were printed by Auguste Delatre.
Adolphe Lalauze “Portrait of J. F. Milletâ€, etching was published in “Souvenirs De Barbizon†in the late 19th century in Paris. The plate signed work measure 4.50 by 3.50 inches approximate (plate mark) and in good condition. « Less

This is titled anonymous because I am unsure of the artist. If I had to guess it would be Berchem because it is very similar to his art and content of the series Animalia. This sheet has "Etching, Dutch School 18th century" hand written on the back. The sheet is pattern similar to that of paper used in the 18th century and has aged a bit. Has dinginess to paper and is quite fragile with a crease down the middle but can be professionally cleaned and flattened. This is a vintage piece, anyone can tell when they see and feel the sheet.
Sheet size is 9.5'' by 7''. This has no text on verso and does have plate marks. « Less

This image labeled online as an etching is also named "The Rising Sun" which is not the correct name for this image. The proper name is "Harbour Scene With Rising Sun"
Claude Lorraine was a well known artist for paintings, he rarely did etchings. He only produced 30 etchings by plate and he never pressed more than 150 copies of each plate.

Claude Lorrain, traditionally just Claude in English (also Claude Gellée, his real name, or in French Claude Gellée, dit le Lorrain) (c. 1600 – 21 or 23 November 1682) was an artist of the Baroque era who was active in Italy, and is admired for his achievements in landscape painting and etching.
Claude was born in 1604 or 1605 into poverty in the town of Chamagne, Vosges in Lorraine – then the Duchy of Lorraine, an independent state until 1766 and now in northeast France. He was one of five children. His actual name was Claude Gellée, but he is better known by the province in which he was born. Orphaned by age of twelve, he went to live at Freiburg with an elder brother, Jean Gellée, a woodcarver. He afterwards went to Rome to seek a livelihood and then to Naples, where he apprenticed for two years, from 1619 to 1621, under Goffredo (Gottfried) Wals. He returned to Rome in April 1625 and was apprenticed to Agostino Tassi. He got into a fight with Leonaert Bramer.
He apparently was able to tour in Italy, France and Germany, including his native Lorraine, suffering numerous misadventures. Claude Deruet, painter to the duke of Lorraine, kept him as assistant for a year; and at Nancy he painted architectural subjects on the ceiling of the Carmelite church.
An impression from the same plate is at the San Francisco Museum Of Art. Visit this link for more details.
