A rare antique “Columbian” entrance door hardware set by Reading Hardware, 1897. Made of cast bronze, this hardware set features large figural doorknobs with a wolf’s head. The doorplate features a gorgeous Art Nouveau design with curling vines and a swinging keyhole cover; the lock and reversible strike plate are ornamented with a matching design. Since the original rose and keyhole cover were no longer present, we’re including a period-appropriate antique bronze doorknob escutcheon and keyhole for the interior. This entry set includes a pair of doorknobs with the connecting spindle, a lock and matching strike plate, double-keyhole doorplate, rose, and keyhole escutcheon. The larger doorknob is 2-1/2” in diameter and approx. 3” deep; the smaller doorknob is 2-1/4” in diameter and 2-1/2” deep; the large backplate is 3” by 9-7/8”; the rosette is 2-1/4” diameter; and the keyhole is 1” by 2”. A wonderful antique entry door hardware set by F.C. Linde, featuring a five-flower design in cast bronze with hard-to-find larger exterior knob and a plate with a double keyhole and swinging keyhole cover. Dating from the late 1800’s, the doorknobs feature a charming design with a square crossed with a diagonal band of flowers, and flowers in the opposite corners. This motif is repeated on the plate and interior rose, with zigzag detail and a shingle pattern, with zigzags and shingles on the matching keyhole escutcheon. The larger doorknob is 2-3/8” in diameter and 2-1/4” deep; the smaller knob is 2-1/4” diameter and 2” deep. The plate is 7” by 2”, and the rosette is 2” diameter. A very unusual antique two-sided cast bronze personalized name plate dating from the late 1800’s or early 1900’s, printed “Louis Tartack.” This figural name plate features dragons or sea serpents on either side, surrounded by acanthus leaves. Interestingly, the creatures are different on the front and back. The plate features an arch across the top with an egg-and-dart variation border, and has two screw holes at the bottom, presumably for fastening it to a desk.
