For Auction I have an outstanding Matte Green Vase made by The Hampshire Pottery Company of Keene, NH. The Vase is known as the "Corn Maize" Vase and the Glaze doesn't get More »
For Auction I have an outstanding Matte Green Vase made by The Hampshire Pottery Company of Keene, NH. The Vase is known as the "Corn Maize" Vase and the Glaze doesn't get any better than this. The Vase is rather large as it stands 5 5/8" Tall and is 6" in diameter. This Vase has one of the Nicest Matt Cucumber Green Hampshire Glazes I have ever seen. The Vase displays Two embossed Ears of Corn Nestled between the Corn Husk Leaves. There is one on each side of the Vessel. The Detail is crisp and the Glaze is thick and nicely mottled. The detail in the Ear of Corn and the Leaves is just outstanding!! You can see the Veining in the leaves and the nice and even vertical rows of corn on the ear. Usually the Glaze on these is so thick you loose the detail. That is not the case with this one. Hampshire Pottery started producing Matte Glazes in 1891. This was 7 years earlier than their main Competitor Grueby Faience of Boston, Mass. Hampshire Pottery resembles the style of Grueby but were much more affordable as they were mold made pieces as opposed to hand thrown. The Vase is considered to be in excellent as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The only issues do not affect value. There is some silver marks that I was able to remove some with a Pottery Cleaner and there are Come Pin Pops in the Glaze at the very exterior bottom of the vase. These can only be seen when the vase is turned to its side. The Vase is signed on the bottom with one of Hampshire Pottery earliest Matt Green Marks. It is Signed "JS Taft & Co" "KEENE N". The J is very hard to see and you cannot see the letter H for Hampshire. The JS stood for the founder James Scollay. This piece can be dated based on the "M" in a Circle mark knowledge. This was the mark that Cadmon Robertson used during his tenure with Hampshire Pottery from 1904-1914. The mark on this Vase pre-dates Cadmon Robertson's Tenure. I would say that this was an early piece even earlier than Grueby's Mat Green Production. This Vase was made circa 1891-1896. Those collectors in Matte Green Art Pottery especially those who Collect Hampshire and want a Great example should not let this one pass by. It will look outstanding on that Stickley, Mission Arts and Crafts Style Bookcase. « Less

For sale I have a Lovely Petite piece of Art Pottery made by Marblehead Pottery of Marblehead, Mass. The Piece of Art Pottery is a Diminutive Size and it is Known as a Diminutive Squat Vase. The Squat Vase is considered a Cabinet piece. The Vase stands 1 3/4" tall and is 3 1/2" in diameter.
The Vase displays that Rich Matte Speckled Gray Glaze that is not all so commonly found. I believe that the speckling is caused by the Red Clay peeking through the Matte Gray outer Glaze. This glaze is also called "Monochrome" by the Marblehead Collector community. The inside of the pot has a beautiful Robins Egg Blue waterproofing high Gloss interior Glaze. When you hold this little Pot in your Hand you can feel the Quality and strength of the piece.
The Vase is considered to be excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The only issue is some rust stains on the inside of the Vase. This adorable little piece was used as it was intended for. This cannot be seen when display. It can only be seen when you are looking inside the pot. The Vase is signed on the bottom with Marblehead's Impressed Ship Logo along with the Capital Letters "M" and "P" for Marblehead Pottery. Those of you who collect Marblehead Pottery and want a Lovely example do not let this one Pass you by. This would look just wonderful in that Stickley, Mission Style Arts and Crafts Bookcase. This piece was made Circa 1904-1915.
Marblehead Pottery was established in 1904 by Dr. Herbert J. Hall as a Studio Art Pottery in Marblehead, Massachusetts using the art and technique of ceramics manufacturing and decorating as a rehabilitation and therapeutic aid to local sanitarium patients at Hall's Devereux Mansion Sanitarium. Marblehead Pottery stopped producing Art Pottery in 1936. Marblehead Pottery was a small Pottery Company never employing more than 6 workers. Their Pottery is considered somewhat scare as compared to their Contemporaries of the day « Less

For sale I have a very nice piece of Art Pottery made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is Called "Baneda" and it is a lovely Double Handled Cabinet Vase. The Vase stands 6 1/8" Tall and is 3 7/8" in diameter.
The Vase depicts a deep mottled pink/red background glaze. It has a Blue Vertically Ribbed Band with burnt Orange Pumpkins and Yellow Gold Flowers with Green Foliage. The Piece is accented at the Top with two looped or Ear Shaped Handles that scroll over from the head to the body of the vessel. It is narrow at the top and tapers to a bulbous bottom that sits on a Round Foot .
The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is a small glaze miss on one of the Handles. There is "No Crazing". It is hard to find these with no crazing. The Piece is signed on the bottom with Remnants of the Roseville Triangular Foil Label. There is also the number 4 lightly incised into the bottom as well as the number 9 written in Blue Grease Pencil or Glaze. More than likely this was the finishers numbers as these are mold made pieces.
Baneda has always proven to be a worthy Investment. This pattern has climbed substantially in value through the years. This is truly a wonderful example of The "Pink or Red Baneda Line". This is known as Shape number 602-6" in the Roseville Catalog an this Vase was made, Circa 1933. I'm sure the lucky Buyer will not be disappointed. « Less

For Auction I have a Beautiful piece of pottery made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The shape is a Double Handled Vase and the pattern is "Foxglove". The Vase measures 5 1/4" tall and is 7 5/8" in diameter outside handle measurement. The opening of this lovely piece is 5 1/2" wide.
The Vase depicts gracefully executed stalks of Foxglove in High Relief against a soft Blue background. There are two stalks on the front of the Vase that are glazed in a Dusty Pink and Cream to Yellow colors. There are Leaf Sprays that are glazed in Mint to Teal Green. The backside of the Vase has one Foxglove Stalk that is also glazed in the Cream to Yellow Colors.
The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is so clean and crisp that I don't believe it was ever used. There are the few typical pin pops and a glaze miss that are common with this glaze. They do not detract from the Vases beauty. The piece is signed with the raised relief "Roseville U.S.A. 659-5". There are also the letters "N" and "D" in grease pencil which is most likely the finishers mark.
The Vase was made Circa 1942. « Less

For Sale I have a very Lovely piece of Art Glass made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The item is a wonderful Gold Iridescent Flower Vase and it is done in Tiffany's highly More »
For Sale I have a very Lovely piece of Art Glass made by Tiffany Studios, New York. The item is a wonderful Gold Iridescent Flower Vase and it is done in Tiffany's highly sought after Gold Favrile Iridescent Glass. The Vase is a nice size as it stands 6 9/16" tall and has a diameter of 4 1/2" at it widest point.
The Vase displays a very Strong Gold Iridescent finish. The Vase looks metallic but it is glass. You can see vivid hues of Fuchsia and Platinum Blues. The Vase is a very nice shape. I would consider this a "Jeannie Bottle" shape. It is Decorated with raised ribbing that starts at the top lip and swirls ever so slightly down the neck of the vase into the middle of the bulbous section. There are little raised Pigtail prunts at the end of the Ribbing. Some are better defined than others. There is also a pattern of 2 high in the Middle and 2 Lower on the outside of the 2 inner lines. The ribbing appears to pick up from the bottom of the Pigtail prunts and extends towards the bottom circular foot. The Ribbing is very faint but you can see it when held to the light. There are a total of 10 ribs.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The only issues is some Carbon in the Glass on the inside lip looking in. This is Factory as it was made this way. This cannot be seen when displayed. The Vase displays that counter sunk polished pontil. The sign of Quality Art Glass. There is a very tiny area with iridescence loss the size of a pencil tip near one of the prunts. The vase is properly signed with the etched initials L.C.T. for "Louis Comfort Tiffany" as well as the Prefix number G2869. This Prefix letter G means this piece was made in the year 1897.
This is a quality piece of Art glass made by Tiffany Studios and is considered an early piece. The Gold Favrile, Aurene Iridescence is just outstanding!! This is a very nice example of this form and color. It is amazing that this vase is in the condition it is. It is 113 years old. This is also a not so commonly found Decorated Vase either. The small salts in this pattern command a strong dollar as they usually sell for $325-$350.
Those of you who collect the Pigtail Prunts Gold Iridescence pieces will surely welcome this fine addition. I'm sure the lucky Buyer will be delighted with their purchase. « Less
