Superb Late 18th C American Federal Carved Mahogany Sheraton Racquet-Back Side Chair Attributed To Philadelphia Cabinetmaker - Thomas Aitken (1795-1810) This chair combines symmetry, fine proportion, and detail representing the finest Philadelphia had to offer. Its quality is hard to surpass in any colonial center. General George Washington ordered a large set of this related design from John Aitken for his residence at Mount Vernon in the formal dining room. This wonderful single mahogany side chair has survived in a superb state of original preservation without any damage or alterations. Original Surface. Warm Mellow Nut Brown Patina.
