Rare to find a piece of Soviet era trench art but to find a cigarette case with it's original lighter is extremely rare. The designs on the aluminum cigarette case are both patriotic as well as romantic. The upper left corner bears a likeness of the Order of the Patriotic War and bears the dates 1941-1944. The lower left is a heart with crossed swords motif and is dated 1921. The dates suggests that the soldier who crafted the piece not only served in WWII until 1944, suggesting perhaps he was wounded at that time and thus had time to produce this interesting set, but the earlier date suggets that he may have been a part of the Revolution as well. The aluminum body cigarette lighter is lacking any adornment other than the date 1944, the Red Star and perhaps a unit marking. Case size, 3"x4.5", lighter 2.25" in height.   « Less

The subject also suggests that it may be post Spanish American thru WWI. The Federal shield and Eagle are of that period. A nice quality addition to any military or lighter collection. Underneath this is the enclosed area for matches. The holder can either hang or sit. This item is in good condition, with some wear of the paint and some rust. This hand carved Swiss walnut cigar box is very similar to the Black Forest style. It is finely carved with hand crafted artistry and opens to reveal a silk tufted liner inside. It has a ram motif, with leaves and sticks, c. 1870. Every inch of this box has been carved with elaborate detail. It measures 9w X 6d X 9h and is in excellent condition. Rare and unusual antique Art Deco Pre-World War I silver and gold cigarette case. The case has a high relief sculptured Art Deco lady who is nude seated on the front of the case. To her left is an antique painting on porcelain portrait of a Middle Eastern or Russian lady colette set in gold. There is also a Russian gold coin and a Persian gold coin inset in the case. Also, the initial A in a fancy scroll, beneath that more gold, Roman numerals equaling the date 8/19/1917 this was the presentation date of the case not the date of manufacture. This case was made in Germany prior to World War I as may be evidenced by the crescent moon, 900 and the crown mark stamped on one side of the pusher. The other side of the pusher has a Russian hallmark for 84 purity silver, meaning 84% pure silver and 16% alloy the way most Russian silver items were marked during that time. The gold coins, the gold lettering, the gold mounted porcelain insert were all added after this case was made and before 8/19/1917. The case is in immaculate condition. This has obviously been a treasured item and very well cared for by its past owner. The case measures 4-1/2 inches wide, 3-3/4 inches high and 1/2 inch deep. Weight 156.1 grams.
