This item has been SOLD. A 1958, Cold War era, Soviet sextant in very nice condition. The lens and mirrors are in very good condition and most of the original paint remains. The wood box seems to have spaces for accessories that are missing. The sextant and a telescope sight device appear to be original to the case. The olive drap paint suggest military application but we are unclear on that point. The case size is 11.5"x11.5"x5". The sextant is approximately 9.5"x9.5". « Less

This knife belonged to Commander William O. Walker, USN, who was one of the Commanders of the USS Lake Champlain (Champ) which has a long history herself. One of her many assignments was that she was selected as the Prime Recovery Ship of the Project Mercury Mission, the first manned Space Flight for America. Commander Walker was also an aviator, naval bomber and later in life became a Grand High Priest of the York Rite, Grand Chapter Royal Arch Mason Knights Templar, he was also a dear friend. His name "WO" and "Walker" are hand scribed on the sheath.
The knife is a Military Issue "Blue Blade" made by Western Cutlery of Boulder, Colo Patent No. 1,967,479 (note photo)this tang stamp dates this knife to c1935-1950.
It measures 10.25" total length, has stacked leather handle, full tang, arched pommel, and a wide blood grove. The original leather sheath has some wear with some missing stitches and a small blade cut on top of sheath opening, which I am told is quite common. Overall on great shape with a lot of the blue hue on the blade. These knives are becoming more rare and are a great addition for the military memorabilia collector.

Powder horn, unusual item - looks like a powder flask for a musket, and has a belt hook for a horseman. Heavy metal, with appearance of bronze, or maybe patinated brass. Not sure how you actually get the powder into it though, as the only opening is the narrow end for loading. It has Arabic script on it, and several other Middle Eastern motifs. Hinged cap holds in place by gravity when worn with the hook. Lever to open. Will leave the collectors to decide whether this is the real thing or not. Measures about 16 cm wide and 2.5 cm thick at the thickest part (6.1/4 inches by 1 inch). « Less

SOLD A superb antique 17th -19th century Hungarian – Polish Nobleman's silver-gilt mounted sword belt, made in the characteristic Transylvanian manner of belts More »
SOLD A superb antique 17th -19th century Hungarian – Polish Nobleman's silver-gilt mounted sword belt, made in the characteristic Transylvanian manner of belts produced in Hermannstadt - Nagyszeben, present-day Romanian city Sibiu, which was an important goldsmith center, and the producer of weapons and military equipment, not only for Hungary, but also for Central and Eastern Europe. Many of these types of Transylvanian belts were exported to the Kingdom of Poland due to the fact that the costumes and weapons of Hungarian Nobleman were similar to the Polish Nobleman's. Because the belts from Transylvania were very expensive, these types of belts were frequently copied by Polish craftsmen, so sometimes it is difficult to determine if a belt is an actual Transylvanian product, or made in Poland, but in the Transylvanian style. Some of the belts have been described in Polish museums as Hungarian-Transylvanian, or Polish made in the Transylvanian style. In the Ukrainian museums in Lwow these types of belts are described as Ukrainian belts.
DETAILS: The terminals fitted with two large solid silver gilt buckles composed from two elements connected by the chinch, each decorated with a broad panel in repousse work, chased and pierced with baroque ornaments and scrolling foliage against a silver gilt panel within a ropework frame, fitted at the end with a serpent head hook on one side and with a silver chain for closure on the other, decorated in roped pattern. Both buckles fully hallmarked on the back with assay office mark and with the silversmith mark. The belt is made of leather with the exterior covered with beige fabric finely embroidered with floral design in silver-wrapped thread with roped border. The back of the belt is finished with a blue velvet lining.
CONDITION: The belt is overall in good condition showing its age and usage, some wear and loss to silver embroidery and roped border, the blue velvet lining has some holes.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length including chain: 114.3 cm (45 inches). Overall length without the chain: 132 cm (52 inches). Width: 4.8 cm (1 7/8 in). Dimensions of the individually single silver buckle: Overall length: 16.5 cm (6 1/2 in). Width: 5.5 cm (2 1/8 in).
Total weight of the belt: 560 grams (19.7534 Ounce).
