A beautiful pair of early 20th century Neoclassical style candelabra lamps in original, beautifully aged, silver plate over pewter and brass. They have urn-shaped body with foliate and beaded details, and gadrooned bases with egg-and-dart border. The lamps are in very good condition. There is a defect in the casting on the base of one of the lamps shown in the last picture witch is hardly noticeable and does not detract from the beauty of the lamps. They have been professionally rewired to American standards. The overall height (including the shades) is 17 '' and the overall width is 5''. After several researches about thoses lamps according to Cristies house of France would be from Jansen House. Jansen House was a well knowned and renowned House from France in the early 20's. Thoses lamps are made from horn of Buffalo and Brass. Everywhere thoses lamps were showned all said that they were special and unique. Antique silver plate and red glass Art Nouveau lamp. Made late 19th - early 20th century (1890 - 1910). Measurements: 19 inches high; base 10 inches in diameter. Silver plated, with heavy metal, probably brass underneath and partially showing through where the silver is worn. The base consists of 3 long-necked birds, storks, with lovely modelled feathers and graceful detail, such as the overlapping of their toes, stylistically very typical of the Art Nouveau artistic taste. The domed shade with cutout design, forming hearts where the 3 main lobes meet. Each lobe has a large cutout area, backed with deep red glass and moulded in a marvellous Art Nouveau landscape with trees and swishing curves amidst a host of flowers. The surface of the shade is further engraved with floral decoration. Finial on top of shade is a beautifully modelled acorn. The red glass behind the cutouts appears dark when the lamp is not lit, but bright red when switched on. The shade is bordered by a fringe of hanging beads, many of which have fallen off. The bulb is covered by a bag of similar, but smaller, beads. The lamp is in working condition.
