A nice pair of Art Deco sconces made by Markel Electric Products of Buffalo, New York in the mid 30s. These sconces were part of Markel's 4870 line from his catalog of 1936. They are wonderfully cast in iron, and have the original gold gilt finish with some minor imperfections which are not significant other than to show their history. The shades are amber, and in good...remarkable...condition. These sconces have been completely re-wired with new sockets and rotary switches. Sockets can easily handle 100 watt incandescent bulbs. However, if you choose to use incandescent light bulbs, we recommend no more than 60 to 65 watts to protect the glass glass from excessive heat. Measurements: Height: 11" from the top of the shade to the bottom of the ring finial. Width: 4 ½" (maximum) Projection: 6" from the wall into the room. In fact, these sconces are shown in our copy of Riddle's catalog of 1932. This pair of nice sconces still retains the touches of original polychrome color accents put on in the factory. Naturally, they are worn like a good persian carpet...but touches are still there. The shades are amber and in good...remarkable...condition. These sconces have been completely re-wired with new sockets and rotary switches. Sockets can easily handle up to 100 watts. If incandescent bulbs are used, we recommend no more than 60 - 65 watts to protect the fragile antique shades from excessive heat. ANT-521 Set of FOUR Art Deco Slip Shade Wall Sconces by Halcolite Halcolite was one of select slip shade light makers who made some high end quality products. They used Consolidated glass products and designs quite a bit to give their glassware a lovely accent. Halcolite was located in Brooklyn, New York at 68 34th Street. According to their catalog T for the year 1937-38, these sconces were part of the Somerset Series, which only had four items in it...a five light chandelier in two configurations; a 3 light chandelier; and these sconces. That's it. The shades are light amber (that Halcolite called golden-toned ), and in good...remarkable...condition. These sconces have been completely re-wired in our UL shop with new sockets and rotary switches. Sockets can easily handle 100 watts. However, if incandescent bulbs are to be used, we recommend no higher than 60 - 65 watts to protect the antique glass shades from excessive heat. Lincoln called the group that these sconces came from The Nile Group Series 8400. Lincoln's catalog described this series as such: "Papyrus, Lotus and representations of other objects, which would impress themselves upon you should you drift along with the current of the historical old Nile, are ingeniously worked out in the beautiful aluminum grill work castings, in the soft gold colored glass which hides the bulbs..." A glowing description from Lincoln. Sales techniques don't change much, do they? The deeply carved shades are gold-amber, and in good...remarkable...condition for their age. ANT-518 Antique Art Deco 5 Light Slip Shade Fenwick Chandelier c 1933 Authentic Art Deco, Slip Shade, polychrome painted 5 shade chandelier, Circa 1933. The finish, while being cleaned up a mite, is original, and simply beautiful to the max. Hard to find a much nicer antique slip shade chandelier than this one. Wonderful condition! The shades are simply a treat and in remarkable condition. Probably made by Consolidated Glass, or another quality glass house. This chandelier was made by a firm in Cleveland, Ohio called The Frankelite Co. They had a logo which was a stylized "F" in a diamond device, and issued their products under the trade name of Diamond Lighting Equipment. The fixture was part of their "Fenwick Series" Model 1255. The catalog says it has a spread of 21", but they actually rounded that figure up from 20 ½". Very little is known about Frankelite, which was a rather small firm. We have a few examples of their work, and they are always rather unique and attractive stand-alone lights. The name and date of these fixtures has been verified by literature from the company as 1933. Measurements: Height: 31" (This fixture can be lengthened by adding chain links.) Diameter: Approximately 21", as previously mentioned. The chandelier has been totally rewired with high grade sockets and new central lead wire in our UL shop. Capable of up to 100 watts per socket, for a total of 500 watts. However, if the decision is made to use incandescent light bulbs, we recommend using no higher than 60 - 65 watts to protect the fragile slip shades from excessive heat. Greater light output can be achieved using cooler compact fluorescent or LED light bulbs. ANT-517 Very Collectable Art Deco Slip Shade 6 Light Chandelier by Globe Globe Lighting Fixture Mfg Co. was located in Brooklyn, NY on 7th Avenue and 12th Street. They were not as big as companies like Lincoln or Markel, but they did make some very interesting, uniquely different...and now harder to find Art Deco lights. This 5 slip shade with one bottom shade chandelier is just such a hard-to-find and collectable light. The elements are leaning more towards the Streamline Deco. We have totally re-wired this collectable chandelier in our UL shop with medium base sockets and new supply wire. All 5 slip shade sockets can handle regular size light bulbs, but the bottom shade just does not have the room for such a large bulb...but still...does not need it, since this is a lovely accent shade. Measurements: Height: 17" overall. The length can be increased for a small additional charge. Diameter: 20" Wattage for the 5 Slip Shades: The sockets in the five slip shades are common household E26 medium base size, rated for up to 100 watts. Nice design, which has the more Streamline motif of the 1936 Deco era. The finish is old gold finish with nickel accents. Very striking. This fixture could be lengthened by adding chain links. ANT-527 American Pair of Truly Iconic Art Deco Design Sconces Circa 1930s, these sconces are finished in an oil rubbed bronze (near black) finish with highlights. The sconces have interesting opal shade, which has a simple band of rings near the rim. The shade is rather short, so a large light bulb will protrude. We suggest using a short profile LED light bulb, such as a type A15 or S14 with an E26 base. We will include two short LED bulbs as a courtesy. Electrical: The sconces have been totally re-wired in our UL shop, with normal bakelite sockets for everyday medium base bulbs. The backplate has a rotary switch for on and off. The sconce mounts with one normal sconce mounting all-thread to a normal electrical box from within the case. All mounting hardware will be supplied. One backplate has a minor imperfection (with a repair), which is hardly noticeable, but must be mentioned. It does not distract from the overall affect of these sconces. ANT-531 Solid Bronze Art Deco Slip Shade Chandelier by Mid West Mnf So nice to be able to offer another really fine light to you. Here we have one of the scarce lights of the Deco era from Mid West Mfg Circa 1935. This is the 5 light Soleure chandelier. Mid West only made the best quality lighting. This chandelier is solid bronze with a great finish. The castings are so beautiful, with lots of pierced parts which are...were...so hard to do, as any casting man will tell you. The finish does have some minor variations, but it also has a nice mellow appearance, and most antiquers would not touch this lovely...aged bronze...finish. It is simply beautiful. This light has been totally re-wired (in our UL registered shop) with five new sockets, and a new main stem wire. Measurements: * Height: 30", but can be made longer by special request. Additional fee applies for customization. * Diameter: 20" shade tip to shade tip. * Ceiling Canopy: 7" in diameter.
