Greetings, I have for sale an oak children's size rocking chair made of oak. It is in excellent condition as you can see by the pictures. From what I have found, this rocker is late 1800's to early 1900's era. The seat is cain and is in excellent condition also. There is a paper tag that was once glued to the bottom of the chair, however, it has worn away with age and gives no clear indication of the maker. The chair stands about three feet tall from the floor and rocks well according to my six-year-old. I can deliver within reason if need be. There is a soft cushion that also comes with it, and it is in great shape, but it is not pictured. Please contact me with any questions. Also, the shine of the chair is the original finish, and I have not refinished the wood or placed and poly on it. The shine shows just how nice the finish is on this piece. Thanks,   « Less

Along with the Herter Bros., and Belter, Alexander Roux was one of the six New York master cabinetmakers of the mid 19th Century. This early and very rare mahogany console table is signed: "from Alexander Roux 478 B-bay, NY", dating this to have been made between 1838 - 1848. Shell carved serpentine shape, handsomely decorated with barley twist edge, supported by leaf and scroll carved cabriolet front legs, turned back legs, joined together by similar leaf and scroll carved cross stretchers,back legs joined by a single turned stretcher. see similar items in the Metropolitan Museum and the Brooklyn Museum Americana collections. Height 69" Width 58" Depth 24". The age of this piece can be established by various factors. The style of the carving on the door panels is typical of the late 16th/early 17th century. Also, the carving on the stiles and rails is known to have existed from the late 16th century. The plain molding on the top is typical of the 16th century; by the early 17th century, the molding was nearly always carved or the top contained a carved frieze. The overall size and shape of the cabinet is typical of Flemish 4-door cupboards earlier in the 16th century, but this is the only one of this size and shape that I have seen with open shelves in the lower section. However, 16th-century cupboards from France typically have 2-door above an open section on the bottom. Condition: The lower half of each corner post was replaced at some later time. It is also possible that the shelves were replaced at that time. #F80   « Less
