But upon closer inspection you will start to see figures forming, fish, women, deer.. this is the Filigran line designed by Adele Bolz for Ruscha in the 1950''s. This hand painted Japanese Satsuma ceramic vase is a lovely piece. The colors are soft and clear, and the gold overlay is in great shape. The artist signature; is on the bottom. The flower and leaf design is flowing and finely detailed. This vase has an undulating body and the handles are a twisted stem design applied to the sides towards the top; sits on 3 feet that have a scroll and shell design with a second gold shell on the body of the vase at the top of the legs. There is a small orange and blue glazed detail between the green shell and the gold shell. The background is a beautiful, soft cream with the age crazing adding depth to the piece. There is slight staining darkening the background towards the bottom of the vase, which does not detract from its'' beauty. The colors are brown, willow and dark forest green, golden sienna and some areas of very soft and transparent pink around the outside of the flower and bud. Some of the leaves are overlaid with real gold. The work is very fine, and this is a piece that would look great as an accent in any interior. There are two age cracks, both shown in the detail picture. Dimensions: 12.5 inches high x 5.5 inches overall diameter, vase opening is 3.25'' in diameter.
