A very neat shell motif British theatre chandelier. This chandelier (and sconces that match it) are often called Odeon Lights, since the main movie house chain in Britain More »
A very neat shell motif British theatre chandelier. This chandelier (and sconces that match it) are often called Odeon Lights, since the main movie house chain in Britain has named all their theatres Odeon . In fact... Odeon is often a synonymous term for a movie theatre, i.e. " Let's go to the Odeon ." This chandelier was used with frosted, amber, and even pink tinted shades around the turn of the century. In older British theaters, you can still see them existing where they have been for over half a century or more.
We have rewired this chandelier to UL American standards in our UL listed shop, with a new American center socket cluster for three bulbs. One bulb lights each shade, so 300 watts can be achieved with this chandelier if 100 watt bulbs are used.
There is minor rubbing on the frame (pictured) due to its age, which should not affect the impression of the fixture, but we thought to mention it.
The chandelier is ready to hang with an American standard light mounting kit which we will supply.
Measurements:
•Height: 22" tall, measured from the top of the canopy to the bottom of the finial.
•Width: 14 ½"
Price: $874.50 for the chandelier, complete with the amber shades shown, plus $50.00 for Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.

Fine Streamline Art Deco six shade chandelier...Circa 1935 - 37 made by Mid-West Mnf of North Kansas City, MO. They called this series: The Beverly. And this top-of-the-line chandelier was numbered 2305 for ordering. The six shade versions of any light were always top-of-the-line for all Art Deco slip shade series from every company.
This nice chandelier is finished in a mixed nickel and what Mid-West called their Venetian Bronze finish. It was also available in a nice old gold finish with nickel highlights during the '30s. It was definitely a contrast that was part of the Streamline statement in lighting.
This chandelier has been totally re-wired with new sockets and wires in our UL approved shop, and is ready to go. We will even supply a mounting kit so you can have it hung-up in no time.
Nice original finish and shades. The finish is a mite thin in places...like an old Persian carpet, with the minor metal showing some of its 80 or so years...but the condition is considered good for the age of the fixture.
Measurements:
Height: 22", but can be increased by adding more chain.
Diameter: 18 ½"

The backplates have a pewter hi/lo finish, and are quite nice. They have been restored (cleaned up) and re-lacquered.
The shades are embossed (like carving) and the design is excellent.
Electrical: These sconces have been totally re-wired in our UL shop. Normal bakelite sockets for everyday medium base bulbs have been installed just like the originals. A rotary on/off switch has been renewed as well. The sconce mounts with one normal sconce mounting all-thread to a normal electrical box from within the case. All mounting hardware will be supplied.
Measurements:

Pair of antique Art Deco slip shade wall sconces by a firm in Cleveland, Ohio called: The Frankelite Co. Frankelite had a logo which was a stylized "F" in a diamond device, and issued their products under the trade name of Diamond Lighting Equipment.
These sconces, circa 1933, were part of the group they named the "Fenwick Series". Frankelite was a rather small firm, about which very little is known. We have a few examples of their work, and they are always rather unique and attractive stand-alone lights. The name and date of these fixtures is verified by literature from the company as stated above.
Wonderful condition. The shades are simply a treat, and in remarkable condition. The shades were probably made by Consolidated Glass, or another quality glass house.
We have rewired this pair of sconces in our UL shop with new porcelain sockets and rotary switches, just like the old ones. Ready to go!
Measurements:
Height: 11"
Width: 6 ¾" overall (backplate).
Projection: 5" from the wall into the room.
Price: $935.00, plus $25.00 for Ground Shipping to addresses within the contiguous 48 states.

Called the The Oriental Group, circa 1935, this series has a shade that can be used either as shown...or upside down (pointing downward). Lincoln called this their "Oriental Reversible" line. Also called the "Two In One 9600 Line", with this top-of-the-line model being stock numbered 9605. (Information courtesy of the Kelly Art Deco Light Museum)
Lincoln was an aluminum foundry that only offered a couple of finishes for their fixtures. The casting detail is simply great. Even Sears sold this fixture, which can be found in the Sears lighting catalogs of the '30s.
Simply elegant with a slightly oriental motif, and excellent quality. We took our picture with a mere 15 watt bulb so the camera lens would focus on the entire chandelier and shade detail...not get blown out by a strong bulb.
An original antique chandelier with original antique glassware, but fully rewired in our UL shop to be code compliant and UL approved. It will be supplied with all the necessary mounting hardware.

The most over-used word in the antique trade is the word "rare". It is so overused for common things, that when an authentic rare item comes along, the word tends to lose More »
The most over-used word in the antique trade is the word "rare". It is so overused for common things, that when an authentic rare item comes along, the word tends to lose its punch. Speaking as the curator of the world's only American Art Deco lighting museum (the Kelly Art Deco Light Museum), perhaps it will, at this time, have a bit more validity than when used off-handedly by a normal dealer. So now, I want to use the word rare.
So I begin...one of the brightest stars in our lighting museum is this particular light. Okay, so what qualifies this as rare? Well, in 42 years of collecting for the museum, we have purchased every entity found, and we only have three examples shown in the museum (a five light like this one, a three light and a sconce).
So...what is it? Since it is not in any catalog or reference book that we have in our library, it needs to be attributed by the elements of its design & construction. We, probably better than most, are most able to do this.
This chandelier we believe, is a presentation piece. It was probably given to outstanding dealers or wholesalers as a reward for achievement of great sales. Of course, it might also have been given to retiring executives of the company, sort of like the gold watch reward. Like the quality of engraved Winchester rifles, it has an amount of detail very much above the norm for a production piece. But then again, it could have been such a limited production, it was never shown in a catalog nor marketed by any of their retailers. It simply continues to be a mystery and a rarity.
We believe it was made by Lincoln Manufacturing, who were ONE of the largest makers of slip shade lighting in America (they even sold to Sears). We know Lincoln design and castings quite well, having handled hundreds of their various products. It has attributes we recognize as being DIFFERENT from Virden or Markel or Acme or Frankenlite or Halcolite or Globe:
1.) The fixture is aluminum...Lincoln Mnf was an aluminum foundry rather than cast iron or cast zinc, or even cast bronze.
2.) The design motifs and shade holding panels are similar, mechanically, to Lincoln designs, such as the Fleur-de-Lis.
3.) The color and reliefs are similar to Lincoln designs, and you can almost feel the elements from their head designer in this piece. It does go that extra mile for great design.
4.) Each casting is marked with a part number. Lincoln did this exclusively, and other manufacturers did this VERY seldom.
5.) ONLY Lincoln made two other lights where the shade was designed to be used bulb side up..or..bulb side down.
The shades are just so fantastic. Heavy custard glass with deep reliefs. Can be used two ways depending on preferences. VERY minor roughness in keeping with the fixture's age. Simply "wow" pieces of glass by themselves.
Like most antiques, this chandelier is showing its age a bit. Some of the finish is worn in places and muted, like an old Persian carpet. One of the decorative finial elements located on ONE of the shade holding panels is missing. We have taken a picture showing what the other 4 look like...and the panel with the missing element for comparison. It is minor...and not really noticeable...but we are showing it all the same.
Measurements:
Height: 28" tall. If a longer drop is desired, we can add a bit of extra chain. The chandelier can be shortened to 24" by removing the stem decoration and some chain links.
Diameter: 18 ½"
Wiring:
Totally rewired with new sockets and wire in our UL shop. Each rewired socket can use up to a 100 watt incandescent bulb. With old glass however, we like to dial down the wattage whenever possible.
Price: $3,080.00 plus $50.00 for Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states. An excellent price for this RARE slip shade presentation chandelier attributed to Lincoln Mnf., Circa 1935.

This series of Art Deco lights was made by Markel Electric Products of Buffalo, NY, Circa 1936 (a key year in the height of the slip shade lighting era). These Art Deco Slip Shade sconces were the only sconces made for this series of slip shade lights.
The original finish is simply superb, i.e....so near-mint condition. The shades, too, are simply in fantastic condition.
Measurements:
Height: 11"
Width: 6 ¾"
Projection: 3 ½" from the wall into the room.
These sconces have been completely rewired with new sockets and all new wire. We have also replaced the switches, made by Leviton in the '20s...and still made up to two years ago. So these switches (by Leviton) are becoming even more antique as we note this.
Ready to go...nothing needs to be done except add the light bulbs of your choice.
$825.00 for the complete pair...plus $25.00 for Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.

How fascinating this light is!! Lovely graceful sweeping lines with great detailed classical elements makes it a very pleasant fixture indeed. Circa 1920.
From the pictures, you can tell that this fixture has mixed metals of iron and steel and brass. Not an uncommon practice around the turn of the century, since each element defines and elaborates each other. Very '20s.
Electrical: This pendant has been totally re-wired in our UL shop. Normal candelabrum sockets for everyday candelabrum base bulbs have been installed.

Height: 28"

This series was named Fleurette, made by Lincoln Mnfg, of Detroit, MI, Circa 1935.
In the series, there were four light types. They were: a five light chandelier...and...a top-of-the-line six light chandelier with a glass bottom (like this one)...and...a two light hall fixture...and...a sconce. This ANT-503 is a restored aluminum 6 light antique chandelier by Lincoln. There is an extra socket for the bottom shade.
Aluminum was the foundry metal of choice for Lincoln. Most Art Deco makers had their foundry operation dedicated to one metal. In Lincoln's case...it was aluminum.
While Vintage Hardware & Lighting does make the reproduction of this light in brass, this ANT-503 is an original antique, cast in aluminum, by Lincoln Mnfg Co., Circa 1930-36. Re-wiring has been accomplished to bring ANT-503 to UL standards. Shades are replacements.
Measurements:
Height: 21"
Diameter: 17"
