An unusual Tang Dynasty, (618-906 CE) low fired, terra cotta tomb figure in the form of a Night Watchman, The figure wears the traditional winter garments of the northern provinces, with heavy hat and cloak and a watch lantern suspended around his neck. Mold cast with no effort to conceal the casting marks. Only traces of the original slip and pigment paint remain. Note old chip at rear on lower hem of the cape. H:12" « Less

An early period jar, (3600-1000 BCE). The refined neck, thin walls, well formed foot and balanced symmetry reflects the sophistication of the early Ban Chaing potters. Constructed with anvil and paddle method and once pigment painted above and below the impressed cord design, this pot is from approzximately 2000 BCE. AS shown, there are cracks, small rim losses, chips to the foot and two small holes in the body resulting from use, age and burial. Beautiful Deep Red Wood Chinese wedding Basket About 12 1/2 inches across the top and 16" foot and 4" deep - the red is a deeper color than the pictures. It is mark under the bottom and under the lid with what appears to be the same mark in black under glaze - it has woren gold flowers and butterflies around the top rim of the bowl. It appears to have been restored because the gold flowers and butterflies are woren but underglaze. The foot on the bottem edge is unglazed and undamaged. The red wood appears to be the natural wood with grain visible the baske has no cracks or scratches. This is a stunning piece. A great add to any collection. « Less
