Stock #: 1014041 Size: 18cm high, 11cm wide Price: AU$ 2,450.00 US$ 2,523.50 € 1,862.00 £ 1,568.00 Italian Albarello of concave sided form, painted in ochre, yellow, green & blue with a central scrollwork cartouche of a crescent and a fleur-de-lis on a blue ground, a head painted to the lower portion, a further winged cherubs head below the large scroll bearing the inscription V BASILICONI (Ointment of Basilicon), the ground with scrolling foliage & berries, within yellow band rims. Probably Faenza, c.1550 References: ref. Drey -Apothecary Jars, p44 for several similar examples, p48 for the write-up on Faenza. He states the ...ornamental patterns of stylized flowers on thin coiling stems surrounded by clusters of small dots do not appear to have been used away from Fae Condition: fair, has had re-touches to the ground and part of the arms. A scarce antique blue transfer printed treacle pot with it's original screw fit lid, made of salt glazed stoneware, and dating to around the 1st half of the 19th century (earlier, rather than later). The pot is of baluster form, with an applied handle and it's original overhanging circular lid with a screw fitting. The pot has a purple / blue transfer print to either side of a figured garden scene, with a lady holding a falcon or hawk in one hand & with whippets or greyhounds at her feet. The pattern is repeated to the lid and handle (partial on handle). The base is unmarked other than the incised number 18, which is repeated to the interior lid. Condition : Small & shallow surface chip to side of rim & a couple of spots of age related staining, otherwise fine. The jug stands approx 4 7/8" / 12.6cm tall. The item was discovered at the river after Pre-Spanish period in the Philippines. The item's design is a four (4) dragons playing with a ball. The other jar belongs to other person designed with long legged-bird was sold USD 200,000 to an Australian ten years ago. The item was slightly scratch on the dragon's scale and evaluated, in which found out mixed with gold. Whenever a coin is rub on the item's body, the image of a coin fades without damages on the item. When being cut / slice with bladed weapon on the item's body, there is no marks / trace on the item. Even poured with acid , the item never change its appearance.
