Art Nouveau sculpted head in an openwork silver button, surrounded by garlands of flowers.Woman''s head in profile. Fabulous detail to face and flowers - see the tendrils curling down the nape of her neck. These are echoed in the flowers and foliage that wind around the silver disk. It takes a magnifying glass to see the fine details of stamen and petals. Genuine old silver amulet traditionally inscribed by a holy person and intended to ward off any potential evil influences. Near Eastern, probably 19th century. Measurements: 2'' wide and 2 1/4'' high. The amulet is badge-shaped with two loops at the top through which a cord or chain can be attached. It is inscribed in Arabic lettering. There are no silver hallmarks on this amulet as is typical of old Persian (etc) pieces of those days. Condition: good. Here is a very old silver amulet, originating in the 19th century, Near East. Measures 2 3/8'' wide & almost 3'' long. The amulet especially made by a holy person in order to protect the wearer. It has two rings at the top so it can be worn as a pendant. The surface is decorated with inscribed writings and other decorative elements. The back is plain, but someone has scratched the Hebrew letters aleph and bet on it. Condition: very good although the edges are of course somewhat worn/softened with use and age. Here is an unusual old silver amulet from the Near East. 19th Century. The round shape measures 1 3/4'' accross and with the rings on top and bottom 2'' long. The round shape has a scalloped edge. It is also supplied with one large loop on top for hanging and a few at the bottom - presumably to hang charms from. Instead of being inscribed with holy / magical writings, this amulet has symbolic inscriptions on it - perhaps something personal to the person who made it. Miniature realistic silver cash register / till mechnism to open. Dutch. Probably dates to late 19th or early 20th century. Weighs 3oz. Engraved scrolling decoration typical of the Nouveau era. One one side is a spool for winding the tape on. Another mechanism attached on the right. Keys have engraved numbers. Two of them have the ability to spring the drawer open. Drawer has compartments for different denominations of currency. Highly realistic, wonderful workmanship. On left rim are two hallmarks - too small to see clearly. Condition is very good. Exceptional pair of German Silver candlesticks, done in the 19th Century in the Chinese taste. Measure 12inch high and weigh 1lb 1oz each (2lb 2oz together). Extremely elegant form. Round base, rised conically to the stem which is in elongated baluster form, very Chinese in influence. Small rounded knops near the drip pans. The entire surface is covered with magnificent repousse and chased work done in the Chinese taste with many exotic birds, flowers and scrolling foliage. The bits where the candles fit in are removable for cleaning purposes. Each stick is marked with the German crown and crescent moon, another crown, .800 (the German standard) and the word Germany. German silver beaker with outstanding repousse and chased decoration of gryphons, interlacing scrolls and flowers. Art Nouveau. Dated 1879. Measures 2 3/4inches high and weighs 3 1/2oz. Light gilt washed interior. Round base and cylindrical body, flaring gently outwards towards the rim. Beakers of this kind were relatively rare, especially in the 19th century. (see Peter Waldron Antique Silver, page 165). Marked 800M underneath with engraved inscription: v.s/m Path en Ph.Bartolomne 1879. Condition is very good. Slight dents to base as to be expected of a piece this age, can easilly be straightened out. Absolutely no damage of any sort to body. Exceptionally beautiful and unusual pair of antique Dutch silver wine strainers / fruit servers / sifter spoons.Date to 19th century or earlier.Measure 7 1/2inches long. Weigh about 3 1/2oz.Very likely wine strainers as wine in those days had to be strained before it was drunk.The elongated bowl is tear shaped. It has scalloped edges with minutely fine bright cut edges. Besides a narrow solid margin, the rest is all wonderful scrolling openwork, further enhanced by bright cut engraving. The handle arches and widens as it curves and rounds. Gently scalloped edges, decorated the same way as the bowl. Very delicate and beautiful engraving on the rounded edge.Various Dutch hallmarks on the back of each handle. Excellent condition.
