For sale is a wonderfully executed watercolor painting by Henry Sylvester Stannard, British 1870-1951. Approximately 21 3/4" x 28 1/4" WITH the frame. WITHOUT the frame it measures 13 3/4" x 20 1/4". Signed lower left H. Sylvester Stannard RBA (Royal British Academy). It is mounted in a Newcomb Macklin frame that is in excellent condition. Henry John Sylvester Stannard of Bedford was a painter known for his genre, landscapes, villages, farms, gardens, horsemen, boats, sheep and ducks. He was especially known for his watercolours of picturesque rustic cottage scenes. He studied at the Bedford Modern School and the National Art Training School. He won his diploma at 16 years old. He was a member of many art societies and was elected to the Royal Society of British Artists in 1896. He came from a family of artists but his is the most notable. Very good condition.   « Less

Decorated with a double pulled feather design. Rolled over lip at the top. There are vertical striations about an inch apart all around this beautiful vase. See photos. Marks include Louis C. Wonderful English Cameo vase by Thomas Webb & Sons of Stourbridge, England. Approximately 7 1/2" high and 6 1/4" in diameter at the widest point. Unsigned but guaranteed to be Webb. Decorated with Tulip blossoms, leaves, stems and buds. There are also 4 butterflies on this one vase. This beautiful citron vase is in high relief and is very heavy. The carving is very well executed and the tulip decoration goes all around the vase. The elaborate top border and bottom border finish this piece beautifully.   « Less

Flared rim on elongated neck of bulbous body of bright yellow overlaid with white over coral pink. Cameo cut and carved overall in honeysuckle blossoms, leaves and stems. Fine border carving. Fully marked in banners "Tiffany & Co., Paris Exhibition 1889, Thomas Webb & Sons, Gem Cameo". 14 1/2" high. Very good condition except for one small fleck on the top outside edge. Lovely handpainted Russian black lacquer box. Approximately 1" tall 3 3/4" deep and 4 3/4" long. The painting of two masked sailing ships sailing on calm waters with a mountain range and a wonderful sunset in the distance. The box is artist signed and dated. The artist signature appears to be C. Fenocknno and is dated 2000. I was informed me that Fedoskino is one of the four main villages for russian lacquer boxes. So it is possible that it was made there. It also has the place of the the painting wich appears to be Monohnnio. Very Good condition.   « Less
