The most over-used word in the antique trade is the word "rare". It is so overused for common things, that when an authentic rare item comes along, the word tends to lose its punch. Speaking as the curator of the world's only American Art Deco lighting museum (the Kelly Art Deco Light Museum), perhaps it will, at this time, have a bit more validity than when used off-handedly by a normal dealer. So now, I want to use the word rare.
So I begin...one of the brightest stars in our lighting museum is this particular light. Okay, so what qualifies this as rare? Well, in 42 years of collecting for the museum, we have purchased every entity found, and we only have three examples shown in the museum (a five light like this one, a three light and a sconce).
So...what is it? Since it is not in any catalog or reference book that we have in our library, it needs to be attributed by the elements of its design & construction. We, probably better than most, are most able to do this.
This chandelier we believe, is a presentation piece. It was probably given to outstanding dealers or wholesalers as a reward for achievement of great sales. Of course, it might also have been given to retiring executives of the company, sort of like the gold watch reward. Like the quality of engraved Winchester rifles, it has an amount of detail very much above the norm for a production piece. But then again, it could have been such a limited production, it was never shown in a catalog nor marketed by any of their retailers. It simply continues to be a mystery and a rarity.
We believe it was made by Lincoln Manufacturing, who were ONE of the largest makers of slip shade lighting in America (they even sold to Sears). We know Lincoln design and castings quite well, having handled hundreds of their various products. It has attributes we recognize as being DIFFERENT from Virden or Markel or Acme or Frankenlite or Halcolite or Globe:
1.) The fixture is aluminum...Lincoln Mnf was an aluminum foundry rather than cast iron or cast zinc, or even cast bronze.
2.) The design motifs and shade holding panels are similar, mechanically, to Lincoln designs, such as the Fleur-de-Lis.
3.) The color and reliefs are similar to Lincoln designs, and you can almost feel the elements from their head designer in this piece. It does go that extra mile for great design.
4.) Each casting is marked with a part number. Lincoln did this exclusively, and other manufacturers did this VERY seldom.
5.) ONLY Lincoln made two other lights where the shade was designed to be used bulb side up..or..bulb side down.
The shades are just so fantastic. Heavy custard glass with deep reliefs. Can be used two ways depending on preferences. VERY minor roughness in keeping with the fixture's age. Simply "wow" pieces of glass by themselves.
Like most antiques, this chandelier is showing its age a bit. Some of the finish is worn in places and muted, like an old Persian carpet. One of the decorative finial elements located on ONE of the shade holding panels is missing. We have taken a picture showing what the other 4 look like...and the panel with the missing element for comparison. It is minor...and not really noticeable...but we are showing it all the same.
Measurements:
Height: 28" tall. If a longer drop is desired, we can add a bit of extra chain. The chandelier can be shortened to 24" by removing the stem decoration and some chain links.
Diameter: 18 ½"
Wiring:
Totally rewired with new sockets and wire in our UL shop. Each rewired socket can use up to a 100 watt incandescent bulb. With old glass however, we like to dial down the wattage whenever possible.
Price: $3,080.00 plus $50.00 for Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states. An excellent price for this RARE slip shade presentation chandelier attributed to Lincoln Mnf., Circa 1935.

ANT-537 Antique Restored Reticulated Frame Art Deco Slip Shade Wall Sconces

ANT-537 Antique Restored Reticulated Frame Art Deco Slip Shade Wall Sconces
True high-end quality original cast solid BRONZE antique frames with a lovely reddish-bronzed finish. The frame is showing a contrasting color variation, due to its age, but it does reflect the total age and care of this antique. Circa 1930.
These Art Deco Slip Shade sconces were the only sconces made for this series of slip shade lights. It is difficult to cast reticulated backplates, as any casting man will tell you. The bronzed finish is simply superb.
These fixtures are in such nice condition. The shades, too, are simply in fantastic condition, with old amber finish displaying dashes of clear design.
Measurements:
* Height: 12"
* Width: 5 ¼"
* Projection: 5" from the wall into the room.
These sconces have been completely rewired in our UL shop, with new sockets and all new wire. We have also replaced the switches with new, rotary style on/off switches...same as the original Leviton switches made from the 1920s until just a few years ago.
Ready to go...nothing needs to be done except add the light bulbs of your choice.
Price: Completely UL re-wired, with original BRONZE finish and shades: $935.00 plus $25.00 for careful packaging and Ground Shipping to addresses within the contiguous 48 states.

ANT-532 Solid Bronze Art Deco Slip Shade Chandelier by Mid West Mnf
So nice to be able to offer another really fine light to you. Here we have one of the scarce lights of the Deco era from Mid West Mfg circa 1935. This is the SIX light (shade) Soleure chandelier.
Mid West only made the best quality lighting. This chandelier is solid bronze with a great finish. The castings are so beautiful, with lots of pierced parts which are...were...so hard to do, as any casting man will tell you. The finish does have some minor variations, but it also has a nice mellow appearance, and most antiquers would not touch this lovely...aged bronze...finish. It is simply beautiful.
This light has been totally rewired in our UL registered shop, with six new sockets and a new main stem wire.
Measurements:
* Height: 30" at present, but can be lengthened for a small additional cost to accommodate your project.
* Width: ~20" (measured from shade tip to shade tip).
* Ceiling Canopy: 7" in diameter.
The five shades are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, and they all match each other very well.
A full mounting kit will be supplied...so nothing more to buy...except light bulbs.
For the complete, UL re-wired chandelier with shades, $1,815.00 plus $50.00 for careful packing and shipping to addresses within the contiguous 48 states.

Solid Bronze Art Deco Slip Shade Chandelier by Mid West Mnf
So nice to be able to offer another really fine light to you. Here we have one of the scarcer lights of the Deco era from Mid West Mfg Circa 1935. Not only is it because of the series it belongs to, but scarcer again since it is an uncommon style, being a close ceiling chandelier with the large ceiling plate which was seldom made.
This is a FIVE light (shade) Soleure close ceiling chandelier. Mid West made the best quality Art Deco lighting. This close ceiling chandelier is solid bronze with a great original finish. The castings are so beautiful, with lots of pierced parts which are...were...so hard to do, as any casting man will tell you.
The finish does have some minor variations, but it also has a nice mellow appearance that most antiquers would not touch...a lovely, aged bronze finish. It is simply beautiful.
This light has been totally rewired in our UL registered shop with five new sockets.
Measurements:
* Height: The drop of this light is only a mere 14 ½".
* Diameter: 17 ¾"
The five shades are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, and they all match each other very well.
A full mounting kit will be supplied...so nothing more to buy...except light bulbs.
For the complete, UL re-wired, SCARCE, close ceiling chandelier with shades: $1,375.00 plus careful packaging and shipping.
$50.00 for Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.

Traditional Brass/Bronze Hall or Landing or Corridor Light
Outstanding American-made hall light circa 1920.
Simply quality and simplicity, this light is brass/bronze construction with a single center light. Each light does have some MINOR condition issues commensurate with their age...but nothing that should bother the antique-affectional individual.
What is not so apparent in the pictures is the BEVELED glass panels on all four sides. Simply quality looking. We debated whether to glass-bead blast the four beveled glass panels to give them a frosted look...but decided, perhaps, the customer should think about this, so we do offer it as an option.
Measurements:
* Height: 37"
* Width: 15" (maximum)
Height can be increased by special request. Please contact us for pricing.
Electrical: This hall light has been totally re-wired in our UL shop. A new normal socket for everyday medium base bulb was installed.
We do have THREE of these lights...taken from a lovely connecting upscale hallway, but are offering them each, which is a more normal usage. But if you need more than one...we will restore the other two. Only this pictured one was restored for this offering.
All mounting hardware will be supplied.
For one complete hall light as shown: $935.00 plus careful packaging and shipping.
$50.00 for Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.
