This is museum quality, small Liao dynasty (907-1125) sancai green glazed molded moon flask ewer. It stands on a flat foot rising to a rounded side body with a spout mouth More »
This is museum quality, small Liao dynasty (907-1125) sancai green glazed molded moon flask ewer. It stands on a flat foot rising to a rounded side body with a spout mouth and a handle. The top opening of the ewer is molded into the shape of five leaves in five divided panels (picture 6). On each side of the molded body, it is decorated all round with rounded heads and within it side, there are two dragons flying in the dense molded cloud.
Another interesting feature of the moon flask ewer is the color variation in the glazing. It ranges from dark green to green and lemon green color which is clearly shown in picture 1,2 and 3. This could be due to the uneven firing temperature resulting in the variation in the glazing. The handle is not straight but tilt to the left (picture 4)
There is no repair or restoration. The glaze shows patches of iridescent silvery green and oxidise pertina on several places (picture 5). There is some expected degradation, chips & minor losses, abrasions, as a consequence of long period of burial and subsequent cleaning. On the handle, there are two natural firing faults at the top and bottom of it (picture 5).
The dimension of the Moon Flask Ewer: The Height is 17.8cm, Width is 9.9cm and the Length is 18.8cm.

This is a nice piece and of museum quality Tang dynasty ((618 – 906 A.D.) copper green glaze ewer. The shape of the ewer looks stout and strong. It has a long body with a small handle, two lugs and a short stout spout. The neck is straight and slightly high with a short and thicken everted rim.
The design on the body is a simple linear abstraction. It is incised with fine roulette design under the ice craze transparent glaze and the spout with ribbed details. The glazing covers two third of the body. The glaze of the ewer uses the iron oxides as colourants. On this piece, a slip is not applied over the ewer but the iron is mixed to the glaze and the applied directly to the ewer. The darker brown to mild yellowish tinge on the glaze is due to the iron oxide not evenly applied or due to the firing process.
There is no repair or restoration, crack or chip. There are abrasions at the spout, the two lugs, on the small loop handle and at the rim of the head. Overall, it is in very good condition.
The measurement of the Tang dynasty ewer: Height 21.1cm and the Width 8.cm.

This is a fine, beautiful and brightly colored example of a small “Jun†ware bowl which was treated as a “manufacturing defectâ€. The bowl is well glazed in a bright lavender color with pooling of a bright blue sky glaze at the base of the bowl. It would have been a fine piece if not for an over glazed which has resulted in an overflow of a big pool of the glaze down to the sagger. When it cooled down, the glaze glued the base of the bowl to the sagger. This is a good Song dynasty (960 – 1276 A.D) example. The bowl makes an excellent research and study subject specimen as well as a unique display item of a Song dynasty “Junâ€.bowl.
The condition is as per shown in the picture. .
The dimension of the bowl with the sagger is: The width is 15cm and the height is 6.5cm.
