An attractive oval variegated horn tobacco or snuff box, with a silver escutcheon plate bearing the name John Cutberson. The box shows minor wear, with losses at the lid edge and minor abrasion from use and age but is otherwise in very good condition. A scarce and desirable piece of 18th C. Scottish history. 3.25" in length, 2" wide, .75" deep. Please inquire with questions?   « Less

A very unusual German Cigarette Case in that it is not trench art but commercially made and according to the date stamped on the drum faces in the motif, produced after WW!. Unusual in the sense that the Imperial family was in disgrace in the eyes of the German people for having lost the war. The Kaiser was banished from Germany and the new German government discouraged the use of Imperial crests, seals or flags. One can only guess that this case was made immediately after the war and then in only very limited numbers. An interesting piece of history and a great addition to a variety of collections. In very good condition showing light abrasion from use. One of the interior cigarette retaining springs is stretched and requires adjustment. Size 3.25" x 3.75". 1918-19.   « Less

Rare to find a piece of Soviet era trench art but to find a cigarette case with it's original lighter is extremely rare. The designs on the aluminum cigarette case are both patriotic as well as romantic. The upper left corner bears a likeness of the Order of the Patriotic War and bears the dates 1941-1944. The lower left is a heart with crossed swords motif and is dated 1921. The dates suggests that the soldier who crafted the piece not only served in WWII until 1944, suggesting perhaps he was wounded at that time and thus had time to produce this interesting set, but the earlier date suggets that he may have been a part of the Revolution as well. The aluminum body cigarette lighter is lacking any adornment other than the date 1944, the Red Star and perhaps a unit marking. Case size, 3"x4.5", lighter 2.25" in height.   « Less

This lighter seems to be to well finished to be catagorized as "Trench Art". The symmetry and finish suggest commercial work to be sold to patriotic citizens and soldiers.  More »

This lighter seems to be to well finished to be catagorized as "Trench Art". The symmetry and finish suggest commercial work to be sold to patriotic citizens and soldiers. The subject also suggests that it may be post Spanish American thru WWI. The Federal shield and Eagle are of that period. A nice quality addition to any military or lighter collection. Either an intended thumb rest in the center of the eagle or a slight dent. 2.2" to top of spark wheel, 1.5" wide.   « Less

A fine quality, Hindenburg era, porcelain Regimental Pipe bowl with a Pickelhauben bowl cover. The painted scenes and writing are in very good condition as is the porcelain pipe bowl. The metal pickelhauben cover has some nickle loss and patina with a small amount of very light rust Overall in very good condition. Late 19th C.   « Less
