Embossed clear glass candle holder rests inside the cup. Maker''s mark ''S. CLARKE PATENT TRADEMARK FAIRY'' to base of cup and candle holder. Fairy lamps originated in England in the 1840''s and are candle burning night lights that would have been used in nurseries, hallways, and dimly lit corners of the home. Similar piece illustrated on page 34, Schiffer''s ''Fairy Lamps'' by Bob and Pat Ruf. Good. No restoration. Dome: Minor nibbles around the top rim. Slight staining around the exterior base.
