These are truly beautiful vases, the genuine item: excellent Art Nouveau pieces, made in sterling silver with beaten finish to the "bud" area of the vase. Full English hallmarks for Birmingham 1905, maker is H M for Henry Matthews. Bases are weighted. They each measure 18 cm high and about 8.2 cm diameter (7 inches by about 3.1/4 inches). Both are in very good condition - they each have an area of flattened rim under the foot rim, and some very minor tiny age indentations elsewhere. Hallmark is incomplete - sterling silver lion, George IV, and a rubbed mark - possibly a crowned lion. Maker's initials are SK - can't trace this, but mark could be Newcastle.
