This is a large antique chancel screen, dating from the late 1800’s, in its original faux-grained finish. From a church in Edina, Missouri, this rood screen features a large, arched center opening, with a pair of Gothic arch windows on each side. Above the center opening, the chancel screen is crowned with an arched piece adorned with a rosette, flanked by decorative turned pieces. A zigzag pattern runs beneath the rosette, meeting a fluted bracket on each side. The arch of the center opening is formed by a pair of carved wooden pieces, featuring a pair of carved florets followed by volutes and a geometric pattern. The zigzag pattern borders the top of the screen above the four arched windows and is followed by decorative wooden panels that accent the Gothic arches. Below each pair of windows is a panel in which the wood runs diagonally, directing the viewer’s eye upward toward the center of the piece. The bottom corners of the center window are accented with rosettes, which are repeated at the outer edges of the screen. Brackets, also adorned with rosettes, run down each outer edge to the floor. This rood screen is in good antique condition, with a number of dings, scratches, and chips. It is missing a small section of wood (pictured) that could be easily replaced. It would make an excellent back bar or a façade for a bookcase. The chancel screen measures approx. 131 ½†wide, 80†tall at the sides, and 106 ½†tall to the highest point. « Less

This is a very unusual antique figural food warmer, c. 1903, from the home of W. B. Goad in Sturgis, Kentucky. This radiator-style, cast iron food warmer features a pair of intricate teal cameos on the two doors in the front. Each round cameo, featuring a woman’s profile, is framed by a beautiful design of acanthus leaves and volutes; the acanthus motif is repeated on the radiator at both the top and bottom. Inside are two shelves for heating food. The food warmer features a marble top, which is broken into two pieces (see picture); however, it does not detract from the beauty of the radiator, and it could easily be replaced. The food warmer (including the marble top) measures 39 1/8†tall, 56†wide, and 13†deep. « Less

These are four amazing antique cast bronze and onyx free-standing arches, circa 1915, from a church in Indiana. The top of each arch features a beautifully cast quatrefoil with an intricate foliate center. The quatrefoil is surrounded by a round border and flanked by incredible anthemion detail, and on either side of the arch is a rectangular section adorned with Gothic arches. The arch is supported by a pair of gorgeous onyx columns with bronze detail. A ridged and grooved ring encircles the center of each column, each joining to a bracket which forms the intricately cast arch, which features a splendid foliate and trefoil design. Originally parts of an altar rail, these arches have unsurpassed casting and are wonderful decorative pieces. There is slight variation among the arches; since they originally formed the supports for a rail, some of the outside ends are decorated with a Gothic arch motif while others are plain so that they can be abutted to another rail section (please contact us for photos). There is also slight variation in the tops of the pieces (pictured). The arches are in excellent condition. Each arch measures 28†tall and 5†deep; two of the arches measure 27 1/8†wide, one is 25 ¾†wide, and one is 25 ½†wide. THE PRICE LISTED IS FOR EACH ARCH; THERE IS NOW ONLY ONE AVAILABLE. « Less

This is a wonderful antique oak newel post, dating from the late 19th Century. It features a graceful, stylized acorn finial, below which is a ribbed half-moon, followed by a panel featuring a fabulous carved sunflower blossom with its leaves. The lower section of the newel features chamfered edges and fluted panels. There is a very small chip missing at the base of the newel post cap (see pictures), which is hardly noticeable, easily repairable, and does not detract from the beauty of this piece; otherwise, this splendid newel post is in very good antique condition. It measures 54†tall and 8†wide.
