Silver rattle with a silver figure of a boy in historical costume holding a bell with original handle. European. 19th century. Total length is approx 7 inches. A young boy with shoulder-length hair stands on a stylised hill with chased repoussed foliage. He wears oriental clothing - wide sleeves, floral repousse bolero and flower-form skirt bottom of the tunic. Wide, flowing trousers and pointy shoes. In one hand he holds a bell that swings and rings. Suspended from the base are another 6 jingle bells. A conical extention under the domed base connects to a shaped handle. A loop on one side was possibly connected to a chain. There is a hole on one side , where the chain could have been joined to on the other side. Very fine and beautiful detail. Possibly worn hallmarks on funnel on underside are not legible. Otherwise, very good condition. Russian silver 2-handled sugar basin / bowl with lid. Made circa 1880. Measures approx 5 inches tall. Weighs 213g / 7.5oz. Bulbous body on a round, stepped and spreading foot. Chased with a band of foliage in pricked borders, enclosing a vacant cartouche on both front and back. Detachable cover fits well and has conforming decoration. Beautiful finial. WOnderful turned up handles - uniquely Russian in design. The piece is fully hallmarked underneath, on the rim, on the inside of the lid. Very good condition. This item was authenticated by Sothebys. Fabulous antique 930 Dutch silver openwork food server set with an old coin in the handle. Made in the Netherlands ( Holland ) 19th century and imported to London, England, with both Dutch and English hallmarks for the 19th century. Measures 6 inches long and weighs 60 grams. Wavy border with gentle scalloped sides. Great openwork highlighted with very fine engraved detail and highlights. BIrds, flowers and scrolling foliage in the bowl. The handle has two moulded mardinieres of flowers and leads to an old silver coin set within a dramatic folded frame. The bowl is hallmarked with a large 930 which is the standard of silver better than sterling. A line of smaller hallmarks show a maker''s mark LL, lion, Q, F, and leopard head, which indicates that it was imported to London. Good condition with slight wear to the jardiniere on the handle, where it would have been commonly held. Ideal for serving fruit, vegetables or other food, especially items that need to drip juice or gravy. Note: Q in shield shape is 1891 and F is 1881. Antique condiment set consisting of an open salt, pepperette or pepper caster, and mustard pot, made of silver with original blue glass liners. Pepper is a little over 3 inches tall. Mustard a little under 3 inches from end to end, including handle. Total weight, including glass is 177g. Made of high quality European silver of 835 standard. Classic Georgian shapes to open salt and mustard pot. Pepperette also classic Georgian lighthouse shape with wonderful, long paw feet attached by trilobed foliage to the body. The other pieces have the same feet. Original blue glass liners are fitted into the salt and mustard pots with the rims slightly folded over them, so they cannot slip out. Each of the blue liners has a negligible rim chip - easilly forgiveable considering age and usage. Mustard has hinged lid. Each piece is hallmarked with 835 silver standard; DA+; ZII - which looks somewhat Cyrillic in style. Good condition. Silver and gilt washed Russian silver basket. Made St. Petersburg, late 19th - early 20th century (pre 1914). Measures approx 9 inches long;7 1/4 to the top of the handle when raised. Weighs 1lb 4.6oz on my electronic postal scale. Oval shape. stands on oval base. Handle with little scrolls on the sides near the hinges and widenting towards the top. Inside is richly gilt washed. Hallmarked with 84 and St. Petersburg mark (used between 1896-1914) and maker''s mark P.L Tiny hallmarks on handle near hinges as well. Very good condition. Squat pumpkin shaped with round, lobed body. Ivory heat resistors in handle and on finial of hinged lid. Botanic theme echoed in the generous thumbpiece of the handle. Perfume / scent bottle chatelaine in silver gilt, richly chased and jewelled. Made in France circa 1860. Measures slightly under 1 3/4inches high, excluding the chain. Round, mine-shaped perfume bottle in gilded silver, the entire surface richly chased with scroll decoration and set with protruding stones. These may be decorative only, but they look like real turquoise & garnets and the stone set in the top of the screw-on cap is amethyst in colour. Chain and finger ring attached. Good condition. French 950 silver teapot made early 19th century. Weighs 1lb 6 oz. 7 1/2inches tall. The weight is 617g / 21.8oz / 19.82 ozt.) Classic French elegance. Round bottomed teapot supported on 4 acanthus leaf shaped legs, curving and tapering towards the bottom, enhanced by a fluted and bowed central raised panel. Delicately curving spout with long mouth to facilitate clean pouring also decorated with raised foliage and a central panel echoing those on the legs. Front and back are identical with an oval enclosed in raised foliage and gently engraved with a monogram. Handle has original inlays for heat protection. The lid has a sunburst of raised gadroon work in the centre, from which the finial emerges in the form of a beautifully modelled pineapple/budding flower.Marks include the Minerva, used for .950 silver items since 1838. Underneath is the diamond shaped lozenge with makers mark that contains A stork 1. Excellent condition. The only fault is a minute dent on the inside of the lid, where it is entirely hidden.
