circa: 1940 width: 72 height: 74 length: 24 This wonderful, antique solid mahogany sideboard was hand-crafted in England around 1940. Since then, the wood has come to acquire a lovely patina, which nicely accents the natural beauty of the mahogany. Inside, the sideboard retains a color closer to its original, redder mahogany. The sideboard contains generous storage space, and the cabinets on either side lock with accompanying keys. The cabinet on the left contains a shelf, the cabinet on the right contains a shelf and a drawer, and three drawers comprise the center section. The uppermost drawer is divided into three sections and is lined with green felt. The paneled backsplash contains a unique convex mirror, though unfortunately it has some subtle spotting, which is inevitable as mirrors age. The cabriole feet, though still quite sturdy, have sustained considerable scraping over the decades. Otherwise, condition remains very good, and this antique English mahogany sideboard should serve any home well!   « Less

The flame mahogany, which is treated to an elaborate finishing process that ends in a rich layer of hand-rubbed wax, displays the striking grain and complexion for which this variety of mahogany is prized the world over. The leather, too, shows a rich complexion and grain that looks especially striking with the hand-worked gold tooling and embossing that trace the border of the leather. Optional satinwood crossbanding and solid brass hardware contrast beautifully with the flame mahogany and leather, while the fluted corners and square tapered legs also look wonderful. Conveniently, each drawer locks, and the center drawer face falls to reveal a finished keyboard drawer. The sides and back feature faux pulls, as well.
