This is a stunning French high polished inlaid fruitwood cabinet with two front doors. The cabinet is inset with several colors of fruit wood flowers and leaves on three sides and topped with a piece of beveled rose to caramel marble. The marble has a missing piece (shown in photo) on the right bevel and the center has a long repair that blends very well. The two doors do not meet well at the bottom and should be adjusted at the hinge to fit properly. The finish is a beautiful high French polish and it shines like a jewel. The piece came with a shelf but it is no longer with the piece. It came off the container without it and I have used it for storage of taller items and stacked formal linens. I purchased this piece in the late 1980''s from a home in Paris. It has been a pleasure to live with it.This ipiece will require professional movers who will blanket wrap and cello it for shipping. My current favorite movers are Sterling Van Lines in Los Angeles, California . They are friendly, prompt and careful as well as reasonable in pricing. This is a one of a kind masterpiece buckeye burl table made by California artist Bruce Bernson. It is lathe turned and has been in his family since the 1970''s. Bruce Bernson was born in California on October 2, 1950 and currently resides in the mountains above Santa Barbara. He is self-taught on the lathe and has been a professional woodturner since 1970. Native West Coast burl woods are used to create striking vases, platters and vessels. The beauty of the wood is enhanced by a natural oil and wax finish. Bruce exhibited most of his career at craft and museum exhibitions throughout the country. His work can also be seen in a number of galleries both here and abroad. He also derives great enjoyment from teaching and demonstrating the art of woodturning. He defines his love for the process simply: ''Turning is action, it''s wood chips... and it''s very much alive!'' The artist has exhibited in the Smithsonian ''Artist''s in America'' show and is published in photos in such publications as Lath Turned Objects, The International Exhibition Port of History Museum in Philadelphia Nov.1998 Also seen on pg 3 of the show book autographed to our Grandmother. The book will accompany the table at sale. Articles in newspapers include the Union News and the Denver Post. Mr. Bernson is no longer a working artist due to health, but continues to lecture most recently in Ojai, California. The table is in good condition but would benefit from a fresh layer of hot wax to restore the aging finish. This piece will need to be pickup and transported by a professional mover at the buyers expensive. I use Sterling Van Lines . The table is in two sections the base and top but both are heavy. Own a piece of our family''s history. From Mom & Dad house to mine to yours. Generations of kids and cats have stored pennies in crevices and stashed balls in the base. This is a very loved piece. This is a beautiful and intricate chinoiserie display cabinet that I bought out of a stately home in London, England. It is large in size and is completely covered in carving of birds and flowers in the wood. The top piece is one large heron with it''s wings extended in flight. The sections as you move down to the curved bottom contains lacquered blue doors, shelves, sliding cuboards and hidden drawers. Each lacquer door or drawer has carved birds and flowers in relief. One of the doors is fixed in place in the midddle. Each design is unique. The flowers include lilies, poppies, roses and chrysanthemums. The birds are herons, egrets, grouse and song birds. Some of the flowers are made of raised or applied natural materials and mother of pearl pieces. I have had retoration work done in London on some of the missing decorations. To my knowledge there is only one missing tail on a small bird where there is a hint of an outline. This lovely piece was a display piece for Oriental treasures in my antiques store and later the center of my Victorian influenced Asian living room at home. I got the love of Asian art from my Mother who was very decoratively forward for Bakersfield, California with her dragon themed living room and red lacquered painted walls. This is a wonderful piece deserving a new home where it will be appreciated and loved. It will require an expert shipper. My current favorite shipper is Sterling Van Lines at . I have used them and find them to be careful, prompt, and pleasant on top of efficient. Furniture items are blanket wrapped, celloed and boxed or crated. They pick up anywhere in California and redirect items to national shippers who travel East and South. All packing and shipping is at the buyers expense. Status: For Sale Reference#: 12630 Condition: very good Year: 1900 Country: China Height: 90 in. (228.60 cm) Depth: 17 in. (43.18 cm) Width: 59 in. This is an attractive English man''s slipper or boot chair. Lower and deeper than most chairs they were for putting on and taking off boots. The chair is upholstered in a newer foliage inspired fabric with nail head studs. The frame and legs are oak. The chair is in good condition. It has places where it has tangled with a vaccum and the wood could use a polish cloth. It is a bulky item and will need to be shipped. My current favorite shipper is Sterling Van Lines . This is a useful and masculine English Oak coat and hat rack that you might have found in the entry or mud room to an English cottage. It is serviceable and attractive made of oak with a beveled mirror in the center and two brass bars to hold hats (there were originally three rods). There are also four oversized brass hooks for coats, umbrellas and keys.It is a perfect addition to any practical modern home and we use it in the back porch as a key and hat holder. We don''t ever loose keys anymore because we use the oak shelf. It would also be useful in a powder room for towels stacked on top and drying towels hanging on the hooks. Another way to live with antiques. Status: For Sale Reference#: 12616 Condition: very good Year: 1900 Country: England Height: 15.5 in. (39.37 cm) Depth: 11 in. (27.94 cm) Width: 32 in.
