Exceptional Toby jug character in blue and white Delft. Almost certainly made in the Netherlands. Signed TSL and dated 1750. approx 10 1/4inches high. Sits on round base. Boots, rolled/cuffed pants, a waist jacket under his coat and a nifty little tie over buttoned shirt. In one hand he holds a sack or bag of money, while another is tucked under his right boot. Clearly a man of means. The surface is magnificently painted with flowers. Fabulous detail. The face is marvellous as well - from the sideburns to the detail of lips and ears. Underneath, the piece is signed TSL and dated 1750. Condition can only be considered very good considering the age of the piece. There are a number of places (clearly shown in the ''photos), where the glaze has been worn off the porous ceramic, but there are no actual chips/cracks/restorations. Exceptional sculpted model figure bust of a young woman by Alfred Stellmacher (later RStK ) made Teplitz Austria between 1884-94.14inches high. Cream tone colours with surface textureof the skin being amazingly life-like. A young girl in Victorian dress with huge bow in her hair on a naturalistic pedestal base, with applied flowers and berries in immitation of a tree trunk.The modelling is exceptional - hands and face are amazingly realistic and the expression and character shown in the face are quite superior to even the best quality busts normally seen.She wears a very finely detailed dress. Marked underneath with the violet stamp (partly erased) AS-1, used by Alfred Stellmacher from 1884-1894. MINT condition. No chips/cracks/damage/losses/restoration of any sort. From the early Soviet era, a wonderful porcelain figurine of a very nationalistic Russian peasant woman, made by the Kiev / Kyiv porcelain factory in the Ukraine, about 1950. I was told that she is called ''the angry housewife'' or Odarka.Measures 9 5/8inches high.She stands on a naturalistically modelled base.Every inch a tough Russian /Ukrainian Peasant. All handpainted. Fromt the bright red patterned scarf tied around her head, the wonderful Tartar facial features, Russian patterns on skirts, apron, jacket and heavy red boots. Royal Doulton HN 1493, the Potter, made in England since 1932 and retired 1992. Designed by Charles J Noke. Measurements: 7'' high. An Arabic looking man, hood over his white headdress, heavilly cloaked sits crosslegged amidst a number of variously sized pots. He pears at a pot in one hand, one of his potting tools in the other. Each pot is mottled in different colours as are his clothes. He sits on a wonderfully coloured blue and purple fringed cloth on a base / platform. Marks: the piece is fully marked underneath:The Royal Doulton lion atop a crown with the name Royal Doulton, made in England in green. Basket of fruit under one arm, a bunch of flowers in the other hand, with a butterfly clinging to the flowers. Fabulous handpainted and gilded dress swirling above the knees as the woman strides forward. Wonderful detail especially to very fine face, feet and clothes. Creamy skin tones great moulding. No marking, but definately German. Condition is very good. Figurine of a lady. Origins and date uncertain, but reminiscent of Staffordshire type of work, with Spanish overtones. Measurements: she is 9 7/8'' tall. Clearly Meditterranean type of lady with black hair and black-highlighted eyes, tight black bodice and black skirt under aprons. She wears a yellow cape, painted in a variety of tones and her white apron has trim in the same colour. It is also impressed with curling patterns and ties into a huge blue bow at the back. She holds a jug of the type used to carry wine or oil in the old days under one arm, while the other is placed on her hip. ROund base with RICORDO DI CALABRIA handpainted on the front. There is a printed MARK underneath - not entirely clear - see pictures. Condition: very good. No chips/cracks/damage of any sort.
