Victorian, circa 1870 Small George Jones Majolica dish in the form of a white dove, wings outstretched, perched on the edge of a leaf. Branch molded handle behind the dove. Leaf decorated with flowers, berries and smaller leaves. Mottled underside with three stilt marks, raised pattern registration diamond and painted pattern number ''2536'' in reserve. Good. No hairlines. No flakes. Kiln effect: glaze run from beak. Repaired crack underneath the dove. Repair to left wing. Restored chip to leaf rim. Victorian, circa 1880 Majolica rectangular sardine dish and cover. Cobalt dish with brown and green wash borders, supported by four feet modeled as fish. Cover is surmounted by a swan resting on a pond lily leaf. Pink interior. Three stilt marks and a vent hole to underside of cover. Green and brown mottled underside to dish. Similar piece illustrated on page 48, ''The Collectors Encyclopedia of Majolica'' by Mariann Katz-Marks. Fair. Cover: Kiln effects: glaze miss to under rim; thinning of the cobalt glaze in some areas; crazing to the cobalt border. Old restoration to swan''s neck and back. Dish: Shallow chip to underneath of one foot. Minor flaking to two of the feet. Two flakes to underneath associated with stilt marks. Kiln effects: a few glaze pops to the interior; stained crazing to the interior and underside. All four fish with restored fin. 5.5ins high, 6.5ins by 5.5ins wide   « Less
