Meissen scalloped bowl. 19th century, German. 5 1/8inches accross at widest point. Nearly 2inches high. 5 deep lobes, bordered by rich gilt scrolling pattern. The inside of the bowl is painted with a marvellous scene of a mother, her son and their dog in a rich parkland or garden. Pillars with pot plants indicate that this is quite a formal garden, as do the tall, elegant trees in the background. The mother is very richly dressed in aristocratic attire of the 18th century. A puce silk skirt, rich red silk sleeves and bodice emerge from under a deep blue velvet jacket and complex curled hairdo under a feathered cap. The blond-curled little boy points to something in the distance, while the little dog prances off in that direction. Crossed swords under the glaze. Porcelain bowl hand painted and artist signed M Yose, made by the Castel company, Limoges, France.Measures 6 1/2inches accross and 1 1/4inches high.Slightly fluted bowl with curling rim, richly gilded on the top. The inside of the bowl is beautifully painted with flowers and signed by the artist, M Yose.Underneath is fully marked for the CASTEL porcelain company. Condition is mint. 19th Century bowls made in Limoges, France. Made to immitate Meissen. Measurements:5 3/4'' diam; 1 3/4'' high. Bowls handpainted in enamel depict Chinese figures, flowers and insects, very much in the style made famous by Meissen in the 18th century. Gilded rims. Marks: Limoges mark:La Seynie; Limoges; *A-F*; France. Also crossed swords in the Meissen style, but red and handpainted over the glaze. Both bowls have also had the words ''Made in France'' added in enamel handwriting, possibly at a much later date. Condition:very good. No chips/cracks of any sort. 1883 artist signed Royal Worcester, England, pheasant or quail bowl. Moulded in form of a bird and handpainted with a pheasant/quail. Measures: just under 7 1/4inches long; 5inches accross at widest point and 1'' high. Very unusual bowl made in the form of a bird. The center is handpainted by a top artist with a scene of bird. As a stand-alone painting this is a fabulous work. A pheasant emerges from long grass. Gold highlights and a wonderful array of yellow and green grasses. Around the painting the sides of the bowl are fluted and decorated with a soft brown transfer pattern. The wings of the bird and it''s marvellous head seem to take off in flight from the rim. Moulded feathers highlighted in gold, strong head and beak and dark rounded eyes. Marks: underneath the piece is marked: the Royal Worcester Vitreous mark in brown with date letter u for 1883. Also Reg No. 140006. Artist initials AW are probably for Watkins A. W. who was only at the factory for a short while and apprenticed to one of the best of the pheasant painters at R Worcester. Condition is great. There is negligible wear to the gilding on the inside of the wings, but we blacklit the piece and there is no damage of any sort. Made by Wedgwood, England, Large Blue and White bowl with architectural, nautical and floral decoration. Slightly flow blue. Measures: 3 3/4'' high; diam is 8 1/2''. Wonderful views of castles, forts and towns ( FERRARA??), with boats and ships in the foreground. Inside upper rim has margin, over 2'' wide of flowers. The transfers end suddenly and there are clear areas where the patterns join. Marks: Impressed Wedgwood and model number. Blue underglaze marks ''FERRARA; ETRURIA ENGLAND; and WEDGWOOD. Also a large blue underglaze ''C''. Condition: very good. No chips/cracks of any sort. There are 3 small dots in a circle where the glaze does not quite cover the surface - probably due to something touching the piece in the kiln and not to be seen as damage. Punch and Judy with a child and frog, flow blue transferware dish made in Staffordshire, England, 19th century.Measures 1inch high and 4 1/2inches in diameter.Fabulous scene showing this warring couple of puppets. Judy, dressed in granny glasses and bed bonnet holds a baby - about as ugly as she is. Punch, with his harlequin cap and wand spouting smoke. In the foreground is a frog, also in a night cap, smoking a pipe. Definately looks the most intelligent of the group. Beautiful flowers and foliage in concentric circles around them, up to the rim.Marks: brown inked impressed mark says Staffordshire England.Condition is very good.
