Lorenzl, a well listed and very sought after sculptor, is famous for his Art Deco bronze dancers. Several are pictured in Art Deco and Other figures by Bryan Catley on pages 207-211. There are 22 Lorenzl sculptures pictured in Catley's book. I believe the model we are offering is quite rare and seems to be lacking in every Art Deco bronze and sculpture collection. The dancer is beautifully sculptured. Her face is lovely and composition divine. She delicately stands on her tip toes dancing on a stylized flower head inscribed Lorenzl. The sculpture is mounted on its original black an gold marble base. This falls into the naughty category because the ballerina forgot to wear undergarments, although she is wearing her ballerina dress and shoes. The positioning of her hands and fingers are very graceful. One of the best Lorenzl bronzes we have had the pleasure to see. From the bottom of the base to the top f her head it measures 11-1/2 inches high. Excluding the base, the bronze alone measures 11 inches. Widest width from the side of her dress to her extended hand measures 5-1/2 inches. The octagonal black and gold marble base measures 3-1/2 inches wide, 3-1/2 inches long, and 3/4 inch high. Beautiful Art Deco nude lady bronze sculpture tenderly holding her baby. The bronze is signed P. Buigues and numbered 6/6. The sides of the base are inscribed Fundicion R. Buchhass Zurbaran-Edicion. This is a beautiful Art Deco sculpture in mint condition. Pascual Buigues 1897-1980 works are very rare. We found a listing on this artist but only 2 of his sculptures have appeared at auction in the last 30 years. This one was discovered on a world wide buying trip. This is the first example of this artist's works that we have seen in our 45+ years in the antique business. The sculpture measures 13-1/8 inches high. Widest width at the base is 4-1/2 inches. Depth of base 4-1/2 inches. Weight 6 lbs. The beautiful nude lady is tenderly holding her child looking lovingly into his eyes. She stands on a free form rock work base. Exquisite antique gilt bronze nude lady signed Schmidt-Hofer. Schmidt-Hofer is a German sculptor known for creating beautiful nude athletic lady bronze sculptures in the late 19th and very early 20th centuries. This exquisite example is a great representation of the craftsmanship and talent of this brilliant German sculptor. The lady stands proud with her head upright displaying her beautiful nude athletic body . She has a beautiful face and pose. She is inscribed Schmidt-Hofer on the top back of the base. She measures 13 inches from the bottom of the base to the top of her head. Not including the original black and gold marble base she measures 11-7/8 inches high. From finger tip to finger tip she measures 10-1/4 inches. The diameter of the base is 2-3/4 inches. The height of the base is 1 inch. The torso is extremely lifelike the best bronze torso by any sculptor we have ever had the pleasure to purchase and offer for sale. This has been in my own collection for 25 years. It has a beautiful green patina only seen on the finest Art Deco bronzes. The sculpture measures 16-1/2 inches high, 9-1/4 inches deep from the lady's left leg to her back. Beautiful gilt bronze Art Deco dancing nude lady holding a wreath with grapes. This is a beautiful Art Deco sculpture showing great motion and design. It has a nice rounded motion symbolic of the Art Deco movement. She's balancing on her toes with one foot in the air as she dances holding a wreath of grapes and bows. This is a very rare model the first we've seen. It is inscribed M. Guiraud Riviere on the base. It measures 15 inches high including the 7/8 inch marble base. The widest width from her extended toe to her back measures 7-1/2 inches. Some loss, rubbing to the gilding, spotting, overall very good condition. The marble base has been restored. Exquisite antique Art Deco bronze nude dancer inscribed Dyson-Smith 1925 (Charles William Dyson-Smith). This artist's sculptures are very rare. I researched the Art Net data base and found only two sculptures sold at auction by this artist. One was a lead sculpture of two children circa 1930 it was sold at Sotheby's Melbourne August 22nd 1994 for $5,989.00. The second listing is another Art Deco sculpture dated 1931. It is a torso of a bronze bather and sold for $5,549.00 at Sotheby's London May 24th 1990. The sculpture we are offering is perhaps the artists best piece. It is an exquisite Art Deco nude female dancer. Exceptionally beautiful showing wonderful motion, design and quality matching the best Art Deco bronzes ever produced. The beautiful nude dancer measures 13-1/2 inches high. The base measures 6-1/8 inches long by 3-1/4 inches wide. Not including he base the bronze measures 12-1/2 inches to the top of her hands. She is dancing on her toes perfectly balanced. This beautiful sculpture captures the feeling and expression of the Art Deco movement. Beautiful pair of Art Deco carved alabaster exotic bird bookends. The bookends have been knocked around a bit. They have several chips and scuff marks. The top of the left wing on one of the birds has been repaired. The top of the left wing on the other bird is chipped off. Please see picture enlargements for clear illustrations.
