Millet “Le Printemps” EtchingMillet “Le-Printemps "Etching After the work of Millet and engraved by Piquet was published in “Souvenirs De Barbizon” in the late 19th century in Paris. The plate signed work measure 4.50 by 3.50 inches approximate (plate mark) and in good condition. This original etching was published by France’s first important publisher of the etching revival. In 1862 Cadart founded the Societe des aqua-Fortistes. Until its demise in 1867 it was responsible for publishing some of the greatest French art from this important decade. Around 1870 Cadart (along with Luquet) reopened his publishing house and continued to commission original etchings from such masters as Jongkind, Bracquemond, Manet, Ribot and many others. Almost all of the fine etchings published by Cadart were printed by Auguste Delatre.   « Less

Henri Matisse - Poesies - 3 Limited Edition Lithograph This has paper work that accompanies the 3 items. Each measure 8.5 by 6.25 inches (plate mark) on woven paper and is unsigned. Published in a limited edition of 3000 by S.P.A.D.E.M. Paris in 1966. Item is in good condition. Henri Matisse was born on December 31, 1869, in Le Cateau-Cambrésis, France. At 22 he had given up studying law in Paris to pursue painting. He had briefly studied art at the Académie Julian and Ecole des Beaux-Arts with Gustave Moreau. At 32 Matisse exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris, where he met Maurice de Vlaminck, who with Matisse would eventually lead the Fauve Art Movement. This won't be on Ebay ever because it's been only pressed 100 times in which most impressions were destroyed during world war I & II in Europe. This is an engraving trimmed to the margin and does not bear plate marks as most engravings in the 17th century did not bear plate marks. Sheet measures 5'' by 6''.
