Aesthetic Movement Limoge porcelain basket. This is one of the most unusually shaped pieces of Victorian Era French porcelain I have seen. It is in the form of a curved "basket" with an intricately "woven" handle. It is professionally decorated with butterflies inside and out and extremely delicate sprays of leaves and flowers. The interior back round color is white as is the handle. The exterior is a soft, pale grey-green. Excellent original condition, with virtually no wear. Fresh from a local Brooklyn estate. Fully marked on the bottom for the well know firm Haviland & Co. 10 1/2" wide x 8 1/4" deep x 4 1/2" tall. « Less

For Auction is an adorable Art Pottery Basket made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is "Pinecone" and it is done in their most popular Blue background glaze. This Pattern and Color is one of Roseville's most desirable to Collect. The Basket is very petite size as it stands 6 1/2" tall and is approximately 5 3/4" in diameter outside handles measurement.
The Vase depicts a very realistic handle in the form of a branch joined to a Pine Cone with green pine needles protruding from the Cone. This handle gives this piece its realistic appeal. On one end of the handle is a Pine Cone with Needles and the other side has a thick curled lip. The Pine Cone attaches to the lip with the Pine Needles extending out and down to join another set of pine needles that are attached to the waist. The Glaze colors are very pleasing as the Background is a light cream color surrounded by a bright Royal Blue. The Pine cones display a warm cocoa brown glaze. The Pine Needles that Protrude from the Pine Cone are done in a Sage Green Glaze. When looking into the vase it has a heart shaped appearance as shown in picture 4.
Frank Ferrell's was the Artist that Created this Pattern for Roseville. This was the most popular design that he ever created while working at The Roseville Pottery Company. In fact, the company would have had to close it doors if it wasn't for the success of this line. The Pinecone line was considered the most Popular Line ever made at Roseville Pottery and that is still evident today. There are 4 colors that the Pinecone Line was made and they are Blue, Brown, and Green and Pink. Pink Commands the Highest Price and is Rarely seen. Blue Commands the next highest price with Brown not too far behind.
The Basket is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The inside shows almost no signs of use. On one end there are a few light areas in the glaze and this is pictured and considered insignificant. The Basket is signed with "Roseville U.S.A." raised relief mark along with the shape number "408-6" also done in raised relief. There is also the number the letter "X" written in a Blue Grease Pencil. More than likely this was the finishers marks.
This is a quality piece of art pottery that will enhance any art pottery collection, especially those of you who collect Roseville Blue Pinecone. This size Basket Rarely comes up for sale without damage. These are small baskets and it was very common for these to get knock over and broken but this one "IS NOT". The condition and quality doesn't get much better than this. This would make an excellent Christmas, Birthday or Valentines Day Gift!!
This Vase was made, Circa 1935-1940. « Less

For sale is a very lovely Art Pottery Basket Vase made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The design is the ever popular, "Snowberry" pattern. It is done in the most sought after Blue background Glaze. The Basket is rather large as it stands 8 1/4" tall and is 9" in diameter outside handle measurements.
The Vase depicts very pleasing clusters of White Berries with a handful of detained green leaves on brown winding branches flowing from the top to the bottom. This is set against a background Glaze that bleeds from a medium blue to a Rosie Blue in the middle and back to a medium at the bottom. There is a Triangular Shaped Styled Handle that loops over from the top lip and attaches to the other sides waist. This gives this piece that Art Deco flair!
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is some very minor crazing and this seem to be typical with this glaze especially with the basket shape. The Vase is signed with the "Roseville U.S.A." Raised Relief Cipher Mark along with the mold number "1BK-8" also in raised relief. The "BK" Stands for Basket. There is also a raised letter 3 in the bottom glaze. I'm not sure what this means.
This is truly a lovely Basket Vase in a very desirable Glaze color. The Vase was made Circa 1947, just after World War II

For Sale is a very nice piece of Arty Pottery made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is called "Bittersweet" and the form is a basket. It is done in the most popular Yellow and Brown Glaze combination. The Basket has some size to it as it stands 8 1/2" tall, and is 7 1/4" wide and 5" deep.
The Basket has a lovely two tone yellow and light brown Terracotta background Glaze. The Basket displays a very pleasing pattern of berries with green leaves winding across the front and back side of the vessel. The background is has a grainy texture. The handle is molded and shaped to resemble a Brown Branch. The mold is crisp and well defined. The color mix is nice and even.
The Basket is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, or chips. The only issue is a tiny flea glaze nick pictured and the underside bottom has an area in which it didn't get any glaze. It appears something round caused this. This is not damage as you can see in my close-up. It was made this way. This cannot be seen when displayed. There is also minor crazing which is common with this line. The piece is signed on the bottom with "Roseville U.S.A." in raised relief along with the mold number 809-8" also in raised relief.
This is not a commonly found line and it is quite lovely. I'm sure the lucky buyer will be quite please with their purchase. It was created late in Roseville's years as this Basket was made Circa 1951. This pattern was in production for only 3 years as Roseville Pottery closed in 1954. These Baskets in this pattern are becoming harder and harder to find. The collectors really hang on to them. « Less
