An incredible figural teapot, hallmarked on underside, cannot say for sure what the marks are but know it to be European. Hallmarks to me are a D with crown above and possibly an A near top on other mark. Finely formed tall legs with waterleaf shoulders attaching to body. About 1/2 way up body is a repeating waterleaf design which is also present at top of pot and on lid. The handle is a typical formed c1790 style made of ebony. Finial is very fancy but the spout just takes the prize! Wonderful eagle spout with feather decoration. Stands approx 13'' tall. Perhaps a chocolate pot?? Antique silver table bell made by Gorham & Co., during the 19th century. Approximately 5 1/2 inches tall. Base is 2 7/8 inches in diameter. Good and solid - silver is weighted. Classic bell shape with Renaissance style repousse decoration. Fabulous masks, figures, animals and scrolls encircle the entire outer surface. The inside has engraved GORHAM CO 015 and OLD FLORENTINE BELL. No hallmarks, so this must be considered silver plate as is to be expected on a weighted piece. However, the quality of the workmanship is great. Good original condition. Antique silver teacaddy. Made in the Hanau, Germany during the 19th century. Measures 4 1/2 inches high. 3 1/2 inches accross. Weighs 175grams. Canted corners. Round lid. Beaded borders. The surface of both body and lid with raised Chinoiserie decoration. Figures in fields and landscapes, amidst pagodas, rowing, holding up parasols, dancing - all busy in a variety of activities, amidst scrolls, foliage, flowers and other forms of decoration. Lovely detail - such as the pattern on the Mother''s skirt, the tiles on the pagoda and the spokes of the parasol. A series of hallmarks underneath the caddy, include 800 for the silver standard and SR under a crown, used by Simon Rosenau,Hanau, Germany. ANother two marks are too worn to be legible. Antique silver goblet. Made in China, circa 1880. Measures 3 1/4 inches high. Weighs 36.5 grams. Small goblet, ideal for liquers or cordials. Classic shape with round base, long stem with an interesting knopf in the middle. The inverted bell shaped bowl is richly decorated with applied silver in Chinese themes. Almost entirely surrounding the bowl is a dragon, depicted in great detail, with long whiskers, claws, scales, ragged beard and tail that ends in a blaze that is echoed in the flares around a raised circle behind it. Clearly these depict well known symbols of Chinese mythology. Lovely workmanship and highly attractive. Signed under the base with a star containing a P; SILVER; and 900. Good condition. Antique 800 standard silver teaset and tray. Made in Germany, late 19th - early 20th century. Consists of: tray 17 1/2 X 13 1/2 inches. Hot water / coffee pot 9 3/4 inches high. Teapot 8 1/2 inches high. Milk jug / creamer 5 1/4 inches high. Sugar bowl with lid 5 inches high. Total weight 3060 grams. Solid silver with octagonal faceted shapes and beaded borders. Handles are scalloped, sturdy and wide. Quietly elegant and eminently useful. Each piece has 800 silver mark, maker''s mark and German Kaiser mark with crown and crescent moon, used up to the First World War, thus dating the set to latest 1914. Tray is also engraved ''handgeschlagen'' (handhammered). Very good condition. Very solid letter opener / page turner with a chrysanthemum handle. Flowers moulded in high relief - almost 3-d for the most part. The detail and aesthetic appeal is stunning. The ''blade'' of the piece is engraved with a number of Chinese hieroglyphic character marks. The back has a silver hallmark. Besides negligible slight rougage on the edge in front, condition is very good. Late 19th Century German .800 Silver chocolate pot or water jug. 9 inches high. Weighs 21 1/2oz. Classic form with Decoration typical Art Nouveau style. Has original heat insulators near top & bottom of handle. Magnificent Moulded and applied rose finial on hinged lid. The front is decorated with outstanding repousse work depicting a large open flower and a number of buds on a sprig. The work is raised in parts and deeper in others with many signs of hand hammering. Very fine detail and exquisite quality and craftmanship. marks : Underneath is a large K.R engraved. The following is impressed:Gebr.Friedlander; hallmark; 800; crescent moon & crown (the Kaiser''s symbols). Good condition with minor surface wear commensurate with over 100 years in existance (look at the ''photos to see they are scarcely visible with the naked eye) and a questionable join of the spout to the body - might be an old restoration and might be original (again, see ''photos).
