Art Deco - Lovely Pair of 1920s Art Deco Wall Sconces Original antique sconces, with an original poly-chrome coloring...although...like a good oriental carpet, it is subdued and mellow, and even has some wear. The finish is in pretty good condition for all this time, though it probably could be brightened up. However, we like antiques to look like antiques, so will leave it to the next owner to make that final finish decision. The shades are really quite subdued, and do not detract from the lovely poly-chrome backplates. With a strong bulb, they give an ambiance that is quite antique. We took our picture with a 15 watt bulb so the camera would focus on the light and shade detail...not get blown out by too strong of a bulb. Measurements: * Height: 9 ¾" overall. * Width: 4 ½" (maximum) * Projection: 5" from the wall into the room. * Backplate Footprint: 8" tall x 4 ¼" wide. These sconces have been completely rewired in our UL shop with new sockets and all new wire. We have also replaced the rotary switches, made by Leviton in the 20s and still made up to three years ago. So these switches are becoming even more antique as we note this. European Cut Glass Cameo Hanging Bowl Light with Cameo Butterflies Lovely fine-cut cameo ceiling bowl from the last 20 or 30 years. We received three cameo bowls from the same home. The home owners had bought them in Europe on the family travels. However...they were wired poorly, and not up to UL guidelines...and needed to be completely re-wired and brought up to UL code...which they are now. Previously...this light had under-sized wiring with European sockets that were non-UL approved. Now, after re-wiring in our UL shop...there is a cluster of three medium base sockets which means you can easily install normal medium base bulbs and have up to 300 watts of lighting power. And wow...does this great quantity of light make those chiseled and finely cut designs come alive! The butterflies are just amazing, and a very desirable motif. Measurements: * Bowl Diameter: 18 ½" * Height: 29" (maximum) Fixture could be shortened by removing one or two of the chain link sections, if so desired. Art Deco 6 Shade Chandelier by Markel...Two Available! Antique Art Deco slip shade 6-shade chandelier by Markel. This light, circa 1935, was part of their "8800 Series". This chandelier was Model 8836, which was top-of-the-line for this 8800 series. Their 1930s catalog says it has a spread of 20". Markel was one of the biggest companies working in the Great Depression, and had locations in America, Canada, and Australia. They made a lot of the antique slip shade fixtures seen in antique shops today, and were a quality company. Red bronze finish. The finish, while being cleaned up a mite, is original and simply beautiful to the max. You cannot find a much better antique red bronze finish slip shade chandelier than this one. Wonderful condition. The shades are simply a treat, and in remarkable condition. Probably made by Consolidated Glass or another quality glass house. Good quality sconces with some very iconic design elements, i.e. stepped surfaces with mixed nickel plated and gold highlights. Circa 1930 - 1935. These sconces have iconic Depression Pink colored shades, which are less common than amber or frosted. Measurements: * Height: 11" * Width: 5" * Projection: 3 ¾" from the wall into the room. These sconces have been rewired in our UL shop with new sockets and lead wire. It is worth mentioning that the slip shades are larger than normal. They really have a presence. Compared to other slip shades...and compared to American normal slip shades...these are BIG. Nice antique finished frame with amber shades. Very striking. Measurements: *** Height: 34" *** Diameter: 25" This chandelier has been completely rewired in our UL shop with new American sockets.
