I would think that this has been made from a necklace - I have several other pieces (rings etc) with the same mount from the same family, so probably a damaged necklace was dismantled and made into other items. Beautiful Victorian gold thimble in its original case. It has no gold marks, but tests as 12 ct gold. The base of the thimble is mounted with a row of oval Persian turquoises. Two of these are darker - usually caused by exposure to conditions such as soapy water or just age pollution. Thimble measures 23 mm hgh and 16 mm diameter. Internal diameter at base is 14 mm.
