Authentic Art Deco, slip shade, mixed metals, 5 light chandelier circa 1936-38.
The finish, while being cleaned up a mite, is original and pleasant. Wonderful condition.
The shades are simply a treat, and in remarkable condition. This is the larger slip shade made during the later part part of the Art Deco slip shade era. Its purpose was to allow bigger bulbs and more light spread from those made just a couple of years before, which had size limitations.
All the Art Deco makers got into this scoop shade profile. They varied the design of the bowl a bit, so telling them apart is not very easy, since at first glance they all look so similar. This version has a nice, clean edge, with a ribbed bottom section. But it is interesting to note how the center rib of the shade matches the ribbed column and ceiling canopy. This is more a Streamline fixture due to these simplistic elements.
Measurements:
* Height: 23" overall.
* Diameter: 18 ½"
This fixture can be lengthened by adding chain links. Please contact us for pricing.
The chandelier has been totally rewired in our UL shop with high grade sockets and new central lead wire.
Capable of up to 100 watts per socket, for a total of 500 watts. The picture was taken with 11 watt bulbs to not blow out the focus, and allow the frame details to show through.
Price for the completely rewired UL antique chandelier with amber slip shades: $825.00 plus careful shipping.
$50.00 for careful packing and Ground Shipping to addresses within the contiguous 48 states.

Antique Art Deco Chandelier Circa 1930
Nice five light Deco era chandelier with drop-in amber shades.
The metal frame is nicely finished in a pewter finish, which contrasts beautifully with the amber shades. There are the odd places that wear does show, which is consistent with age...but overall, a rather nice chandelier.
Interesting motif with scrolls and shields. We're almost tempted to say Deco Gothic-est...as even the fitters for the shades seem to have a Deco-Gothic look about them. Wonderful condition.
The drop-in shades are in good condition. Co-existing at the same time as slip shade lighting, it was a fashion that had a more reliable and safer mounting shade than slip shades. There was, and is, a preference for this type of shade for a more traditional look.
Measurements:
* Height: 21"
* Spread: 15 ½"

Art Deco Streamline 5 Light Chandelier by Mid-West Mnf
Fine Streamline Art Deco five shade chandelier...circa 1937 - 1939...made by Mid-West Mnf of North Kansas City, MO.
This is both an attractive chandelier, and an interesting historical development of the Mid-West Chandelier company. As we emerged from the Deco slip-shade era...manufacturers were scrambling for designs, and yet...wary of the cost factors of the Depression, they tried to use some designs already established. The stem and canopy of this nice chandelier was taken from the slip shade chandelier series they called: The Beverly. And...maintaining Mid-West's renowned quality, this fixture has BRONZE and nickel plated metal elements mixed together for a great quality presentation. This bronze with nickel highlights finish was as striking during the 30s just as it is today. It is definitely a contrast that was part of the Art Deco Streamline statement in lighting.
The shades, too, are worth mentioning, since the quality of these is simply nice. Nice striated sides, with clear glass top rims...they have a gentle cream color is just so nice. There is some roughness around the fitters, which is so typical after 80 odd years of use...but the presentation just says quality.
Measurements:
* Height: 23"
* Diameter: 19 ½"
Can be lengthened by adding more chain. Please contact us for pricing.
Nice original finish and shades. Places of the finish are a mite thin...like an old Persian carpet. The minor metal is showing some of its 80 or so years, but this finish is considered good for this age of fixture. We could have gone nuts polishing the nickel...but some folks like the mellowness of antiques...so we left it alone with its age.
This chandelier has been totally re-wired with new sockets and wires in our UL shop, and is ready to go. We will even supply a mounting kit so you can have it hung-up in no time.
$764.50 complete...plus careful packaging and shipping.
$50.00 for careful Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.

Pair of Scarce Williamson Sconces Circa 1930
Just a lovely pair of iconic sconces made by Williamson...later bought by Beardslee...from the Circa 1930 period.
These sconces...and the other lights of that suite...are some of the least-survivable slip shade fixtures made during the 30s. The shades were such thin glass that they just could not hold up to much abuse. Therefore...frames are more common...shades, not so much.
From the Beardslee Catalog #46, which was copyrighted in 1932 by the Beardslee Chandelier Mfg Co, the suite is listed on pages 34 and 35 as: Williamson Shade-Lyte Series 60 (with these sconces being stock number 061). Information courtesy of the Kelly Art Deco Light Museum.
The backplates are original polychrome color that was called Modern Gold.
The shades are egg shell thin, and while one shows a bit more use than the other, still a very nice offering of scarce sconces.
The lighting of these sconces are from the top down...instead of down-to-up, as most Deco fixtures were.
Measurements:
* Height: 13" overall.
* Width: 6 ¾" (backplate)
* Projection: 5" from the wall into the room.
Ready to go...nothing needs to be done except add the light bulbs. These sconces have been completely rewired in our UL shop and are supplied with all the mounting hardware.
$1,375.00 for the complete pair as shown...plus extremely careful packaging and shipping.
$25.00 for Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.
