Large Bare Bulb 1920's Antique Bank Chandelier (ANT-454B) 1920s bank light, which is timeless, encompassing multiple styles...Deco...Edwardian...Arts & Crafts. Going onto the net and looking up 20s banks and commercial buildings, this type of light will often be found in several of those old pictures. Where did they all go? We have found very few indeed. We were fortunate to obtain five of these fantastic original bank or commercial building lights. Four of these sold...this is the LAST ONE!! The metal is steel and iron, with some minor brass elements, all finished out in an old gold finish. Naturally, with time, this old gold has become like a worn Persian carpet...i.e...a bit muted and a little thin here and there. But...being purists at heart, we are NOT re-doing the gold, and leaving it as "cleaned up a little." It is an antique after all. Measurements: •Large Rim: 20 sockets, with a diameter of 48 ½". •Small Rim: 4 sockets, with a diameter of 18". •Height: 55" (as is), but can be shortened by as much as 15" if desired. Naturally...it also can be lengthened to any length. Completely re-wired to UL standards in our UL shop, with new bakelite sockets. Each socket capable of a 100 watt incandescent bulb. We only put a 40 watt bulb into each socket, but much larger wattages of globe light bulbs are available if a total of 960 watts is not deemed sufficient. Bulbs do come with the fixture. When this fixture was originally built, there was not much of a UL to speak of...so they played fast and loose with the wiring. But, we are a UL shop, and cannot do that. So, in the re-wiring of this antique, we separated the lights into three circuits, and added a ground wire for the internal wire used. All three circuits come together in the canopy where one #12 wire unites the three circuits for installation. All new porcelain sockets were installed...but...we used the old-antique outer porcelain colored rings for appearance. So now this item is truly up to modern code, but has the complete look of the old fixture. A heavy duty mounting kit will be supplied. Simply a great find for that classic ambiance returned. Art Deco "Nile" chandelier by Lincoln Mnf, from a family called “The Nile Group," circa 1935. An original antique chandelier with original antique glassware, but fully re-wired in our UL shop to be code compliant and UL approved. Lincoln was an aluminum foundry that only offered a couple of finishes for their fixtures. One was gold highlights (as demonstrated by this chandelier), or completely covered with gold. The accent technique is, in our opinion, far more attractive, and of the period. Old gold is ageless, and not bracketed for a period or style. The casting technique for the reticulated panels is simply great. Even Sears sold this fixture, and can be found in the Sears lighting catalogs of the times. Simply elegant, and quality to the maximum. We took our picture with a mere 15 watt bulb so the camera lens would focus on the entire chandelier and shade detail...not get blown out by the strong bulb. This chandelier has have been completely rewired in our UL shop with new sockets and all new wire. It will be supplied with all the necessary mounting hardware. Heavy brass novelty nutcrackers in the form of ladies legs. Probably Indian made for the English market. These were popular around the Edwardian era, and still (mostly) get a laugh today. They measure 12 am long. There is a cosmetic small split in one of the feet, along the line where there is a join in the mould. Not serious, just noting it for accuracy's sake. Early 20th century box for dip pen nibs, Perry & Co's Naval Series Pens. Perry & Co. Ltd, Old Bailey, London. The warship on the lid is the H.M.S. "Formidable", the third of four ships of that name to serve in the Royal Navy, and was the lead ship of her class of pre-dreadnought battleships. She was built in 1898, commissioned in 1904, and sunk by torpedo off Portland Bill in 1914, the second British battleship to be sunk by enemy action during the First World War. Box measures 2 cm high by 5.5 cm by 8.5 cm. It still contains a couple of nibs. Condition: box is made of card, and has some wear and scuffs, but over all very sound.   « Less
