Early 20th century box for dip pen nibs, Perry & Co's Naval Series Pens. Perry & Co. Ltd, Old Bailey, London. The warship on the lid is the H.M.S. "Formidable", the third of four ships of that name to serve in the Royal Navy, and was the lead ship of her class of pre-dreadnought battleships. She was built in 1898, commissioned in 1904, and sunk by torpedo off Portland Bill in 1914, the second British battleship to be sunk by enemy action during the First World War. Box measures 2 cm high by 5.5 cm by 8.5 cm. It still contains a couple of nibs. Condition: box is made of card, and has some wear and scuffs, but over all very sound.   « Less

Very nice two light, slip shade, Art Deco pendant by Mid West Mnf. The decorative elements of this two light pendant are really quite nice. There's a crackle surface finish in old gold, surrounded by elements of nickel plating, complete with a tapered deco center motif. Mid-West really did know how to design iconic fixtures, and this one has a taste of step-deco with the restrained features of Streamline design. Circa 1934 - 1937, it does appear in their literature as the Empire design. The family consisted of a 6 shade chandelier (with a couple of different stem configurations); a three light chandelier; this two light pendant; and then wall sconces. We have just received a pair of wall sconces which will be restored and available later. We have rewired the pendant to UL standards with new sockets in our UL shop. So, it's ready to hang with a standard light mounting kit which we will supply. Maker is Crown Staffordshire, England. Brooch measures 3.4 cm by 3 cm. A few minor little flakes off petals and one missing little leaf which has been coloured down, so not noticeable. Crown is metal and set with 4 little coloured glass stones. There are actually 3 stones absent, but they are evenly spaced, so again, looks OK. Unusual 1937 Coronation souvenir.   « Less

Vintage 1950s retro cardigan clip. Two pearlised discs with dress-clip backs joined by a faux pearl chain. Disc measure 3 cm diameter. Length of whole is 8.25 cm. Very good condition - just a few little skin losses to the beads on the chain. It was a very fashionable thing to drape your cardigan over your shoulders in the 50's and 60's - remember this was the age of the twin-set. Your cardigan clip was worn clipped to each top of the garment - it held it together and prevented it slipping off, effectively making a sort of cape.   « Less
