This is an antique Duncan blue glass vase in the daisy pattern with a hand holding a cornucopia or horn of plenty, 6-1/8" high, 2-3/4" x 2-1/4" on the oval bottom. It is in excellent condition, no chips, cracks. The three mold seams are visible on the body, interesting because they are crooked, not straight. This vase appeared in the Duncan catalogs for 1886 and 1890, and the company closed in 1893, so the vase dates 1886-1893. The design is similar to the later Fenton daisy and button cornucopia vases produced in the 1930's, but the earlier Duncan vase does not have buttons between the daisies, just a geometric pattern. Nils joined Royal Copenhagen as an apprentice in 1912, and graduated from the royal Danish Academy in 1917. He went on to become Royal Copenhagen’s most prolific designer. He was Artistic director at Royal Copenhagen from 1949 while also artistic director of Alumina also from 1928-1969 He designed at least 4 of their best known production ranges – Solberg (1930’s), Marselis (Alumina 1950’s) Tenera(1960’s) and Baca (1964 -) He also produced many exquisite art pieces in high fired glazes that are lesser known and hard to find. Nils also designed the Morgenfue dinner ware range (1934-1967) which I have written about previously HERE. Nils body of work is so large that it is hard to capture a picture of it as a whole, as of course it changed during his lifetime spent at Royal Copenhagen, but his pieces from the 1950s - 1970’s, especially from the BACA and TENERA ranges,were and remain some of Royal Copenhagen’s most popular works coveted as being prime examples of mid-century modernism. Nils motifs and designs ranged from the naturalistic to abstract to geometric designs – and I think the best of these are those with the beautiful highly detailed and complex relief patterns from the BACA range. This is an antique Huntley & Palmers biscuit tin made in England at the beginning of the 20th century, c. 1900-1911. It is in the form of a toby jug figure, 6-1/2" high, 5" diameter at the bottom. The hat functions as the lid. All the parts are present, no major dents. There is some scratching in the paint, which is common in tins of this age. Blue stone is definitely a gem stone, but untested at this stage - it is either a blue topaz or an aquamarine. (Most likely is a Blue Topaz). Vintage ring, stamped 9ct inside the band. Face of ring measures 13 mm by 11 mm. Band is 2mm wide. Ring size is English M (USA size 6) with an internal diameter of 16.50 mm. Very good used condition. TW: 3.20g.   « Less
