Here is a California compliant UL lighting fixture originally from the mid 50’s, but now rehabbed to be current to UL and CA use standards. These fascinating fixtures were often under-lit with either one incandescent light bulb, or a series of small chandelier bulbs. We have changed those incandescent fittings to one GU-10 fitting, as required for energy savings in California and now becoming a standard for rehab and new construction. This fixture now proudly presents a 27 watt LED SMD bulb giving about twice the light as the original did, but for nearly ¾ less electricity. Now that’s energy savings!! A UL label is affixed to the fixture. The light itself is a series of three graduated circular disks held in a staggered frame. In between each layer, there is an acrylic spacer for the light to illuminate each disk. Quite a fascinating light that pairs well with the glowing LED bulb. You do receive the 27 watt LED bulb that is shown in the fixture. Replacement LEDs (when it finally burns out in thousands of hours) can be purchased from us. The style of his light would meld well with other early Modernist designs, such as Art Deco or Streamline. Lovely oval lava cameo earrings, 19th century. Probably converted from a brooch at some time. They have been suspended from gold posts for pierced ears. Earrings measure 2 cm by 1.7 cm. The cameos are very well carved - beautiful high relief classical female heads. The frames appear to be gold, but could be rolled gold. Excellent condition to face of earrings - the backs show the signs of having been converted, including a few dents in the gold and one little tear.   « Less

Unusual and beautiful bracelet - made in sterling silver, it has linked panels of leaf forms and flowers with turquoise bead heads. The central panel is an amazingly fine micro mosaic oval of a basket of flowers. Exquisite work, tiny glass tiles mounted in a frame of turquoise blue glass. Minor chip on the blue edge of the mosaic. Safety chain fitted. The barrel clasp is probably not original, but may have been added quite some time back when a few links were put in to extend the length. Maker's stamp on rear is for Z.W. & Co. Stamped Sterling Silver, Made in England. Probably dates from early 20th century. ("Made in England" marks were used from about the 1920s, with just "England" before that since 1891). Length of bracelet is 17.75 cm (7 inches). The central panel of mosaic measures 1.8 cm by 2.1 cm not including the silver frame, which brings it up to 3 cm. Very good condition.   « Less

A very neat shell motif British theatre chandelier. This chandelier, and sconces that match it, are often called “Odeon Lights” since the main movie house chain in Britain named all their theatres “Odeon”. In fact...”Odeon” is often a synonymous term for a movie theatre, i.e. “Let’s go to the Odeon”. This chandelier was used with frosted, amber, and even pink tinted shades around the turn of the century. In older British theaters, you can still see them existing where they have been for over half a century or more. We have rewired this chandelier to UL American standards with a new American center socket cluster for three bulbs. One bulb lights each shade, with each socket rated for up to 100 watts. However, antique shades can be quite fragile and easily susceptible to damage from excess heat, so we recommend no more than 60 - 65 watts if you choose to use incandescent light bulbs. If brighter light is needed, today's LED and Compact Fluorescent light bulbs make good substitutions...they have a greater lumen output without the excess heat of incandescent bulbs. The chandelier is ready to hang with an American standard light mounting kit which we will supply. Vintage Scottish silver brooch or pin of two thistles, one with a purple amethyst glass thistle top, the other with an amber-yellow citrine glass top. It has a Scottish hallmark for Edinburgh - the date letter is almost unreadable, but possibly for 1951. Maker's mark is either R.W. & S, or H.W. & S. Comes with a pair of matching earrings - thistles and leaves with a purple glass faux amethyst stone. All have very nice detailng to the silver work. Brooch has a safety chain attached. Brooch measures 3 cm diameter. Earrings have screw-back fittings and measure 1.9 cm by 1.2 cm. Earrings are stamped "Silver" on the screw. All in very good condition.   « Less

Attractive three stone amethyst ring made in 9ct yellow gold. There are two very tiny old cut diamonds at either side of the central stone. Face of the ring measures 7 mm by 15 mm. Size of central amethyst is approx. 5.5mm x 4 mm and the two either side are approx. 4.5mm x 3.5mm. Height of setting is 5 mm. Ring size is English M (USA size 6) with an internal diameter of 16.51 mm. Condition: Very good overall - there is wear to the facet edges of the amethysts commensurate with age and use. This is a lovely looking ring on the finger, being quite a substantial setting. TW: 4.07 g.   « Less
