Very retro style to this ring - New Zealand jade (called greenstone locally), large square stone with a flick of 4 tiny diamonds in gold across one corner. Double shank styled shoulders. 9ct yellow gold. Has 9ct stamped inside the band, and also Solar - presumably the maker. Stone measures 16 mm by 12 mm (5/8 inch by 1/2 inch). The diamonds are little brilliants, probably about 1 mm diameter each. One of the diamonds has a damaged crown, but this is only visible under the magnification of a jeweler's loupe. Pretty fruit knife and fork, .875 silver handles with a pattern of floral swags and silver plated tines and blade. These would date from the late 19th to very early 20th century. The mark is probably Latvian. Knife measures 18 cm long, and the fork is 16.5 cm long. They have been used, and so show signs of the mellowing that antique silver has - tiny dints, light scuffing, some spots on the plate of the blade, but nothing serious at all.   « Less

Victorian brooch or pin by an early New Zealand colonial maker. Sterling silver mount is ornately engraved with scrolls etc, and has a scalloped edge to the setting of an oval piece of banded agate. The rear is stamped Stg. Silver. and has a "G.L." stamp in two places. Possibly by George Lumsden (ex Scotland and Australia) who worked in Invercargill. Scottish style of brooch, measuring 3.2 cm by 3.8 cm. Excellent condition.   « Less

The finish does have some minor thinning here and there as any good antique does....but it also has a nice mellow appearance and most antiquers would not touch this lovely aged finish. This light has been totally rewired as well, with five new sockets and a new main stem wire. The antique shades are very nice, and have an amber background and darker designs. Some wear and tear on the shade colors (as expected with old shades), but nothing terribly significant. These sconces have been completely rewired in our UL shop, with new sockets and all new original rayon twisty wire. This chandelier was made by Mid-West Mfn, Kansas City KS, from their "Chesterton" Series, circa 1938. Nice design for the more streamline design motif of the 1936 deco era. Sears Changed the name to "Mellow-Glow" for their 1938 Lightmaster Catalog. The chandelier has an old gold finish with nickel accents. Very striking. This fixture could be lengthened or shortened by adding/subtracting chain links. The chandelier has been totally rewired with high grade sockets and new central lead wire. Sockets are UL approved for up to 100 watts each. Please Note: incandescent bulbs no higher than 60 to 65 watts are recommended, due to the heat emitted from the higher wattages which can potentially damage old glass shades. If more light is necessary, energy efficient bulbs such as compact fluorescents or LED bulbs can be used. These emit more light with less heat. Measurements: •Height: 24” tall with the two chain links as shown. Can be shortened another inch by removing one of the links. •Spread: 19” diameter. Comes complete with shades and ready to hang. Here is a California compliant UL lighting fixture originally from the mid 50’s/60’s, but now rehabbed to be current to UL and CA use standards. These fascinating fixtures were often under-lit with either one incandescent light bulb, or a series of small chandelier bulbs. We have changed those incandescent fittings to one GU-10 fitting, as required for energy savings in California, and now becoming a standard for rehab and new construction. This fixture now proudly presents a 27 watt LED SMD bulb giving about twice the light as the original did, but for nearly ¾ less electricity. Now that’s energy savings!! A UL label is affixed to each fixture. The light itself is a very fine craftsman case. While most lights on the market now use straight FLAT beveled panels, earlier lights (like this one) received a quality glass working by making curved beveled panels. This light has curved panels at both the top and at the bottom of the fixture. Very substantial quality treatment. This surely makes a very nice hallway or vestibule light for sure. You do receive the 27 watt LED bulb that is shown in the fixture. Replacements (when it finally burns out in thousands of hours) can be purchased from us.
