This large Arts and Crafts tile has an embossed image of a scarab in green against pumpkin brown background. It is a thick tile, unmarked on the back but is most likely made at Owens. It retains traces of mortar and has a couple of chips on the back, and has a small chip to one corner on the front. It is a rare and desirable tile. ( These are more commonly found in a 4.25 inch version). The design is applied in squeezebag, so it was a very labor intensive process to outline and color the entire tile by hand. The four tiles are surrounded by a narrow band of painted wood, which sits on a matte of brown linen. This is bordered by a painted wood frame.
