ANT-479 Energy Efficient LED Rewired Antique French Art Deco Chandelier

ANT-479 Energy Efficient LED Rewired Antique French Art Deco Chandelier
A nice 1930 - 1935 French Art Deco chandelier...Nickel Plated over brass...by the famous Paris based company Petitot, holding 5 clear and frosted glass Art Deco Ezan style hades.
These shades are sometimes called "Dripping Ice," and are truly iconic for good early French lighting. The bottom shade differs just slightly from the arm shades...which we have seen a few times before.
The bronze maker Antonin Petitot started his company in 1878. His son Henri took over in 1917. He sold his lights to lamp shops all over France, as well as Europe and the United States. In the early days of Art Deco, they produced precious fixtures in high quality bronze with shades from the best French glass factories, such as Muller Freres, Degué, and then later...Ezan Glass Company. In the late 30's they changed their style and produced lights in a modernist look. These beautiful chandeliers had shades of the highest quality of either Muller Freres or Ezan Glass Company (attributed).
Nickel Plated Finish: We have not polished this original finish; we just cleaned it up a little with a mild soap. &nbps;If you wish a bright nickel, you can polish it with a nice silver polish...but if you want it to look antique, that finish is here already.
One small problem with these gorgeous French chandeliers is the height of the shades. They are shorter than American shades, so the bulbs often show above the rim. We modified that by installing a G9 socket for LED bulbs, so a more powerful G9 LED bulb can be used without peeking over the rim of the bowl. Gives more than ample light for these great shades. We supplied a picture of this re-wire from another French chandelier--ANT-496--but the process, and final appearance, is identical.
G9 sockets are installed by removing the old European guts of the socket while maintaining the outside brass housing. Then the G9 socket is installed directly INSIDE the original brass housing, thereby allowing the original housing to continue to hold the shades...just like when they were made. We have both color G9 bulbs and can supply either a Bright White 5000°K bulb, or a Warm White 2700°K more incandescent looking bulb when you purchase the chandelier...and yes...replacement bulbs are readily available.
Measurements:
Height: 24"
Diameter: 28"
Shade Diameter: 8 ½"
Price: $2,420.00 This includes a standard US mounting kit, and all the G9 LED bulbs. Upon purchase, please send us a note as to which LED Kelvin bulb color you wish.
The fragility and size of this item deems it must be shipped by freight. Freight costs are calculated and invoiced separately after purchase. If you would like a freight quote before purchase, please contact us...we would be happy to provide one! « Less

Circa 1920, these sconces were made by Lightolier. A great original paper label is still in position on one of the sconces, as shown in the picture.
The backplates have a pewter hi/lo finish and are quite nice.
The shades are basic opal glass with polychrome decals applied. Pretty good condition, considering their age.
Electrical: These sconces have been totally re-wired in our UL shop. Normal bakelite sockets for everyday medium base bulbs have been installed just like the originals. The sconces mount with one normal sconce mounting all-thread to a normal electrical box from behind the shade. All mounting hardware will be supplied.
A very nice pair of sconces.
Measurements:
Height: 12"
Width: 5 ½"

Unique Pair of French Art Deco Sconces Circa 1935
The outward design elements, i.e. the amber glass shade and copper finished sconce frames, are original. The frame is copper finished, and formed from sheet metal.
The significant beauty of these sconces are the shades. So typical of French Art Deco...they have a deeply embossed floral design and a wide presence. The amber shades are in remarkable condition and just lovely.
Re-wired in our UL shop, they now have American sockets for standard American bulbs.
Measurements:
Width: 11 ½"
Height: 7"
Projection: 3" from the wall into the room.
$935.00 for a very nice complete & re-wired pair of French sconces in original condition...plus $25.00 for careful Ground Shipping to addresses within the contiguous 48 states.

ANT-511 Nice Pair of French Circa 1935 Art Deco Slip Shade Sconces
Very nice frame design, which is nickel plated.
Very nice amber shades, which are in simply great condition for their age. Simple, but elegant, and an iconic motif for the Art Deco period.
When received, these sconces had French sockets which were changed in our UL shop to standard American sockets. Therefore, we have totally re-wired these sconces in our UL shop with American medium base sockets and new supply wire. They do not, and never did, have switches, since that is not necessarily a French custom.
We changed the mounting as well. The sconces now mount to a standard American electrical box with a standard American crossbar, which will be supplied.
Measurements:
Height: 10 ½" overall, measured from the top of the shade to the bottom of the frame.
Width: 9 ½" (maximum)
Projection: 4 ½" from the wall into the room.
$935.00 for this great pair of UL French sconces with orginal amber shades...plus $25.00 for Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.

ANT-536 Pair of Nice Art Deco Slip Shade Sconces Attributed to Mid-West Mnf. of Kansas City

ANT-536 Pair of Nice Art Deco Slip Shade Sconces Attributed to Mid-West Mnf. of Kansas City
We have attributed these lovely sconces to Mid-West, as they match chandeliers in our museum which are linked to Mid-West Mnf. Attribution of the museum chandeliers was an easy link. Mid-West worked mostly in bronze metal until later in the Depression...and the chandeliers in the museum are bronze. More important though, is that identical finials and canopies were used, as on other documented production work, so the use of common parts was the defining link.
While the metal of these sconces is not bronze, they are still finely executed in the casting metal of the times. As seen, the finish is a dark high/lo pewter look, and the details are very pronounced. Mid-West was known for their high casting skills.
The slip shades are in excellent condition, and of the nicest amber color.
The sconces have been re-wired in our UL lighting shop with new sockets and new switches. The socket is well capable of handling 100 watt bulbs...but...we would recommend lower wattages to protect the antique shades. We used only 11 watt bulbs to take the pictures, and it yields a nice decorative effect. All mounting hardware will be supplied.
Measurements:
* Height: 11 ½"
* Width: 5 ½"
* Projection: 4"

ANT-539 Pair of Art Deco Slip Shade Wall Sconces by Globe

ANT-539 Pair of Art Deco Slip Shade Wall Sconces by Globe
Globe Lighting Fixture Mfg Co. was located in Brooklyn, NY on 7th Avenue and 12th Street. They were not as big as companies like Lincoln or Markel, but they did make some very interesting (and uniquely different) Art Deco lights...and now...harder to find Art Deco lights.
These sconce frames are cast iron frames that have been nickel plated. This makes a significant contrast between the bright nickel plated metal and the amber shades. Striking indeed.
These sconces have been completely re-wired, in our UL shop, with new sockets and rotary switches. Sockets can easily handle 100 watts. If using incandescent light bulbs, we do recommend using a maximum of 60 - 65 watts to limit heat exposure to the slip shades. If greater light output is needed, compact fluorescent and LED lights are good substitutions. Their greater efficiency means the bulk of the electricity consumed goes to light emission, and much less is wasted as heat.
Measurements:
* Height: 10 ½" overall, measured from the top of the shade to the bottom of the frame.
* Width: 6 ½" maximum.
* Projection: 5 ½" from the wall into the room.
All mounting hardware will be supplied.
$825.00 for the complete UL re-wired pair of antique Globe sconces with Nickel Plated frames and amber shades...plus $25.00 to addresses within the contiguous 48 states.

ANT-551 Art Deco Pair of Wide Slip Shade Wall Sconces by Markel
A neat pair of Art Deco sconces made by Markel, Buffalo, NY in the mid 30s. These are shown in their catalog of 1936, and are part of the 9900 group. This sconce was stock numbered 9911.
Markel's catalog described this group as: A Markel Presentation in Classic Modern Designing. Naturally, this was modern in the 1930s. Now, totally classic!
Cast iron metal backplates with a pewter finish paired with lovely amber WIDE shades. These are an unusual slip shade pair of sconces that gives a nice widespread lighting affect.
Measurements:
* Height: 10 ¼" from the top of the shade to the bottom of the backplate.
* Width: 8 ¼" (maximum)
* Projection: 7 ¼"
These sconces have been completely re-wired in our UL shop with new sockets, and replacement rotary switches nearly identical to the original ones. Sockets can easily handle up to 100 watts. However, if using incandescent light bulbs, we recommend no more than 60 - 65 watts to protect the antique glass from excessive heat. Greater light output without excessive heat can be achieved with the use of LED or compact fluorescent light bulbs.
All mounting hardware will be supplied.
$825.00 for the pair of documented Markel UL re-wired sconces. Shipping adds a bit extra.
$25.00 for careful packing and Ground Shipping within the contiguous 48 states.

A nice pair of Art Deco sconces made by Virden, and pictured in their catalog of 1931. Virden called this series: The Berkeley Line. There were chandeliers with various support types, but only one wall sconce, and it was this one. It was stock numbered 1401.
This pair of nice sconces are finished in an Art & Crafts style of pewter, but have an air of Gothic to them while still remaining Deco. This design crossed a few decorative motifs.
The shades are amber, and in good...remarkable...condition.
Measurements:
* Height: 11" overall, measured from the top of the shade to the bottom of the backplate.
* Width: 6 ¼" (maximum)
* Projection: 4 ½" from the wall into the room.
These sconces have been completely re-wired in our UL shop with new sockets and rotary switches.
The sockets can easily handle 100 watts, but we recommend a limit of 60 - 65 watts if incandescent bulbs are to be used. This is to protect the slip shades from excessive heat. Greater light output can be obtained by using energy efficient LED or compact fluorescent light bulbs. These types of light bulbs operate at cooler temperatures, and do not emit as much heat as incandescent.
All mounting hardware will be supplied.
