For Sale is a lovely Arts and Crafts purse manufactured by The J.E. Mergott Company of New York and was more commonly known as Jemco. Jemco was know for their quality purse frames from the early to mid 1900's. The purse measures 6" in height excluding the handle. The purse measures 6 1/4" in diameter and has an overall height of approximately 11 1/4" including the handle. The purse is made of brown leather that is stitched together with a black toned leather string. The front side of the purse has a floral tooled design adorning an Arts and Craft panel motif. There is also a hammered pattern tooled in the leather in between the two decorative opposing panels. It is accented by a decorative loop hanging from the frame that gracefully hangs over this area. The back side of the purse is plain. It has a silver toned frame with a ball shaped snapping closure for closing the bag securely. There is a 1/2" wide strap that is attached securely. The purse opens to one main section that is lined with a soft green suede that has a sleeve on each side. The purse is considered to be in very good to excellent condition as there are no tears or broken stitches on the purse. The frame also closes in an even fashion. There is some minor wear on the leather stitching and some wear on the interior suede as this purse was gently used. The purse or handbag is signed on the metal frame with the typical "JEMCO" in a diamond trademark. The purse was made Circa 1930's.   « Less

For Sale is a lovely vintage Lucite bag made by Rialto of New York. The box portion of the bag measures 3 7/8" tall to the top of the lid and approximately 8 3/4" tall overall height with handles included. The purse measures 8 5/8" long at the bottom of the purse and 7 1/2" long at the opening. It measures approximately 4" deep at the bulge and 3" deep at the opening. The purse is constructed of a pearl white body that has a modern look with sharp angles at the ends. The lid is clear and has a carved stylized flower lid that has been carved on both the exterior and interior of the lid. There is a smaller vine of leaves that was carved and then frosted on the interior only in order to make the hinge mechanism disappear through the clear lid when it is closed. There are two brass or gold toned balls on the interior of the lid which secures it closed. There are two gracefully curved handles to hold the bag in comfort and there are four gold toned feet applied on the bottom to keep from scratching the bottom. The purse is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks in the Lucite and the hinge, snap closures and brass pins for the handles are all very secure and show that this was a cared for accessory by some lucky lady back in the day. There is one very small area on the exterior lid that has a few surface scratches but it is not noticeable unless you are really inspecting this and only in a certain light. The brass hinge has a signature that reads "ORIGINAL Rialto N.Y." Rialto of New York was one of the leading designer and manufacturers of Lucite purses back in the 1950's and this little gem is quite the fashion statement. It would make a perfect handbag for a bride or even just a stylish accessory for casual wear. The purse was made Circa 1951-1960.   « Less

For Sale is a Vintage Purse made by the Whiting & Davis Company of Plainville, Massachusetts. It is made in the ever popular gold tone mesh and is a very nice example of their work. The purse measures approximately 4" tall and 6 1/2" wide at the base. The hinged frame is 5" wide and has a 5" handle. There is also a cardboard insert sewn into the bottom the purse to give extra room at the bottom. It is approximately 3" deep to allow for a variety of accessories. The Purse has a metal mesh armor exterior and a peach satin liner. The Purse is very functional as there is a good size compartment for necessities with a kiss clasp that closes securely. There is an interior open pocket on each side that might have held a mirror along with a few other necessities. The gold chain handle is attached securely to the frame at both ends. The Purse is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no tears in the linings and no unpleasant odors. The metal armor mesh is all in fine condition and the frame and hinge are undamaged as well. The Purse is signed on both sides of the gold toned frame MADE IN U.S.A. along with the MESH WHITING & DAVIS Co BAGS logo. The peach lining has a white satin label sewn onto the inside pocket that reads "MESH WHITING & DAVIS BAGS TRADEMARK REG. MADE IN U.S.A." in blue lettering . The Whiting and Davis Signature in this fashion dates the purse to be Circa late 1940s-50s.   « Less

Pair of unique and attractive sconces...circa 1920's. The cast frames come with a nice contrasting pewter finish. The satin opal shades are in great condition. These shades are totally satin opal white. The pictures look like there are some color variations...but there is not. Completely white opal throughout. The embossed pattern of the shades is particularly attractive. Excellent quality. Electrical: These sconces have been totally re-wired in our UL shop. Normal sockets, for everyday medium base bulbs, were installed in each sconce. We have also replaced the rotary switches, made by Leviton in the '20’s...and still made up to ONE year ago. These switches by Leviton are becoming even more antique as we note this. The sconce mounts with one normal sconce mounting all-thread to a normal electrical box from within the case. All mounting hardware will be supplied. Measurements: 9 1/2” tall by 5” wide, and projects into the room from the wall 5 3/4”. The backplate measures 9 1/2” tall by 5” wide. A gorgeous antique cast brass door hardware set in Barrows Lock Company’s “Arcola” design. Circa 1900, the set includes the door knobs, plates, and mortise lock. Featuring a fantastic Neoclassical design, the backplates have an elegant curved shape with acanthus, scrolls, beading, and a husk border. The doorknobs feature a crisply detailed flower in the center, surrounded by swirling acanthus leaves and a bead-and-reel border. The larger exterior door knob measures 2-1/2" in diameter and protrudes 2-3/8" while the smaller interior knob measures 2-1/4” in diameter and 2” deep. The larger exterior plate measures 11-3/4" tall and 3-1/4" wide and the smaller interior plate measures 8-1/4" tall by 2-1/4" wide. The lock body has a 2-1/2" backset and is 3-5/8" long and 5" tall; it's faceplate measures 1-1/4"" wide and 7" tall.
