Three scrolling bands attach to the top of the fixture, creating an open body around the bulb, and meeting at the base where a foliate finial hangs. Wonderful antique Neoclassical brass lantern with original slag glass, dating from 1920. This pendant light begins in a simple canopy and chain, coming down to a decorative loop finial featuring volutes and foliage. The lantern roof slopes down to a hexagonal overhang with tassels hanging from each corner. The body below features six panels of beautiful amber and white slag glass, separated by bands with bead-and-reel trim. The hexagonal lantern base features a stunning flower, with intricate details and petals made of green slag glass. This pendant is in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks to the glass, just the expected fleabites around the edges. Edwardian period oval small dressing table pot with cut crystal bottom in diamond design, and sterling silver top with embossed angel's head. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1904, maker S & B (Synyer & Beddoes). Pot measures 32 mm high by 73 mm long by 32 mm deep (1.1/4 inches by 2.7/8 inches by 1.1/4 inches). Top is a little loose, but excellent condition overall. No chips in the crystal.   « Less

Beautiful pair of Victorian plates - the pattern is Imari style with cloud and lotus borders, and gold scrolls and chrysanthemums to the central area. Colours are pale peach, Indian red, cobalt blue and gold. Plates are a good heavy weight and measure 26.75cm diameter (10.1/2 inches). They are very grand plates, but the only backstamp is Wm. Fairbairns & Sons in a garter mark. Pattern design is 3 over 2032. William Fairbairns operated in North Staffordshire, mid to late 19th century. There is a further impressed mark, but unfortunately the lettering in this second mark is too faint, although I can see " ...tone" which I think may be Iron Stone. The plates are rather like Crown Derby in style, but not bone china. Excellent condition.   « Less
