Probably French or of French influence, these six sconces nearly perfectly match, with only subtle differences. The difference seems to be mainly that two of the sconces have slightly smaller bows at the top. This probably resulted from the original customer buying a set of four...and perhaps returning months, or years, later to buy another pair of sconces. These sconces are solid brass with their original aged patina. They also have a polished metal backing so the reflection of the bulb is a bit magnified, which has a nice effect through the crystals. Measurements: Each sconce is 10 3/4" tall by 6 1/2" wide. They project into a room a mere 3 1/2". These lights have all been re-wired in our UL shop and are ready for installation. The french sockets were replaced with American candelabrum sockets, as well as new lead wires, so they are all ready to go with American style mounting supplied. Really quite lovely. Here we have a fine chandelier that just demonstrates the variations of the Art Deco design in one lovely fixture. Circa 1920 - 1930, it is truly a lovely chandelier. The shades are really quite unique. Heavy cast glass with heavy embossed designs. This chandelier has been completely re-wired in our UL shop with new American sockets and all new wire. There are three candelabrum sockets within the center bowl, so that light peeks out of the side windows and illuminates the bottom shade. The five shades around the center bowl are also wired with American candelabrum sockets built inside the original French/British style B-22 pin socket housing. Kinda clever so we can use the original shades without any noticeable difference at all. Measurements: The overall height is 36 1/2". The maximum width (including the shades) is 32". Price for the chandelier is "only" $1,815.00 plus careful packing and shipping. I say "only" because if you have done some chandelier shopping elsewhere, you will know that some folks are asking upwards of $3,000 for a fixture of this type, and often, not as nice as this one. We're more realistic and believe that fair pricing is best. Buyer to pay for freight shipping due to the size and fragility of this fixture. This will be invoiced separately after checkout. Nice pair of circa 1920 wall sconces. Original "hammered effect" oil rubbed dark finished sconces. The metal of the backplates is cast metal. Ready to go...nothing needs to be done except add the light bulbs of your choice. The sockets that are used are normal medium based sockets, so any decorative bulb made for a normal socket will work. We are using a common flame style bulb, which we will include with the hope that it makes the shipping without damage. These bulbs can be purchased at almost every light or big box store. These sconces have been completely re-wired in our UL shop, with new sockets and all new wire. We have also replaced the rotary switches, made by Leviton in the 20's...and were still made up to ONE year ago. So these switches by Leviton are becoming even more rare as we note this. Measurements: The overall sconce height is 10". It will project into the room from the wall 4". The backplate, by itself, measures: 8 1/2" tall by 4 1/4" wide. Price for the complete pair: $295.00, plus $20.00 for careful packing and Ground shipping within the contiguous 48 states. Small cruet set on stand - pepper with silver top, mustard with silver top, and open salt. The sterling silver is hallmarked for Sheffield, 1905. Maker is JD WD (James and William Deacon). This could possibly be a Christopher Dresser design for them. The pots are octagonal cut. Whole measures 10.5 cm high and 8.2 cm wide by 8.7 cm deep. The pots are each 6.7 cm high by 3.1 cm diameter (2.5/8 inches by 1.1/4 inches). Salt is 2.9 cm high (1.1/4 inches). All in excellent condition. All pieces of silver hallmarked. Late 19th century bowl or comport stand. It has no bowl with it, but if you had a bowl or pot with the correct diameter base, this could be a stunning addition to any dining table or sideboard. Stand is silver plated, 18 cm high (7 inches). It has a diameter at the foot of 14 cm (5.1/2 inches). The top holding rim has an internal diameter of 10.5 cm (4.1/8inches). Stand is well made, with lion's paw feet, swags of roses and daisies at the top, and hoofed feet supporting the top stand. Maker's stamp is C.G.H co. It has one little indent in on an edge, otherwise in excellent condition.   « Less

Silver plate and mother of pearl pair of jam or condiment spoons. They come in their original box with the retailer's name in the silk-lined lid "Stewart Dawson & Co (NZ) Ltd. Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin, Christchurch". Pretty floral design engraved in the bowls and scroll work in the silver plate at the bottom of the handles. They each measure 15.3 cm long (6 inches). Mother of Pearl handles and silver plated blades and tines, with sterling silver ferrules. Hallmarks are for Sheffield, 1909. Maker is probably Charles Boynton. Six place setting, and although these are traditionally fruit knives and forks, they are also very good for use with entrees - for terrines, or savoury tarts or similar. Knives are 20 cm long and forks are 16 cm long. Condition: There is some minor edge wear to the plate mainly to reverse sides of forks where they have touched table or plates. Attractive set.   « Less
