Chinese blue and white bottle case, with a possibly cut-down neck. The mark is Ming, Chenghua period. The two dragons are four-clawed, above a base border of waves. Blue/green faint tinge to the body, and a six character mark under the base. Vase was purchased in the 1950s or 60s from an English dealer in the UK. The neck has a rounded-off edge, and possibly could have been cut down after damage. Quite thick porcelain to the neck, with finger ring ridges all the way down internally. On the external topmost ring of decoration, there is a feelable ring. Quite heavy porcelain, weighing 650 grams. Some pits to glaze under base around the mark as Chinese pots often have, from sand in the kiln. May be original, or may be early 20th century copy. I'm no expert here. Vase measures 20 cm high and about 12 cm diameter. No damage at all to the body, just the possible grinding of the neck as mentioned.   « Less

This antique Chinese porcelain Swatow ware blue and white flower bowl is 8-3/4" in diameter, 1-7/8" high. It was made about 300-400 years ago. The condition is very good for such an old item. There is uniform crazing on the front and back and rough inclusions on the bottom, characteristic of this ware. I have two other similar Swatow blue and white flower bowls, same size, so please inquire if you are interested. This is an unusual vintage Japanese Oribe art pottery round bowl with a spout, about 6-1/4" in diameter, 1-3/4" high. There are three holes intentionally placed, two on the front and one in the back. It is possible that the bowl was made to hold a hanging plant, and the spout allows the drained water to be poured off. The body has characteristic wheat colored body decorated with green and brown designs. There is also characteristic fine crackling in the wheat colored section. There are no chips or cracks. There is a signature on the bottom which I have not identified. This could date any time from the late 19th to mid 20th century.   « Less

Porcelain soy sauce dish in the mille fiori pattern with gilded rims and highlights. Blue and white decoration to the rear. Marked "Foreign", which is a mark for export to England. There is also a mark in blue underneath the red Foreign stamp - can't read it, but it starts with the Da symbol. This pattern was popular late Edwardian period, about 1910, and this ties in with the last years of the Qing dynasty, or could be Japanese from circa 1910 to 1920s. Dish measures 21.mm high by 71 mm diameter. Excellent condition.   « Less
