Fantastic and RARE five light theme chandelier from Gill Manufacturing Circa 1930. Gill called this series, that used a keg motif for a shade, "Novel Lighting More »
Fantastic and RARE five light theme chandelier from Gill Manufacturing Circa 1930. Gill called this series, that used a keg motif for a shade, "Novel Lighting Fixtures".
In his catalog he says that these fixtures were for "Taverns", "Rathskellers" and "Tap Rooms".
He brags in the '30s catalog, that the glass keg shades are true reproductions of real wood carvings. The series did contain single shade light fixtures of various sizes, but this chandelier was top of the line.
Measurements: It is approximately 24" tall but since it has a chain link, it can be lengthened. The diameter is about 18 ½" outside shade to outside shade.
Electrical: Completely rewired with new high grade porcelain sockets and new central lead wire.
Metal frame is aluminum with an "old" pewter finish.
Since we are curators of the only American Art Deco Museum, we are able to authenticate this fixture and have one identical to it in our museum.
Price: $1,450.00 plus shipping. « Less

Very nice pair of circa 1924 wall sconces. The reason we are saying "1924" is that they are signed on the back as follows: "Design Pat 4-1-24 Made in U.S.A" Unique sconces More »
Very nice pair of circa 1924 wall sconces. The reason we are saying "1924" is that they are signed on the back as follows: "Design Pat 4-1-24 Made in U.S.A" Unique sconces since they are so well signed and documented. The gorgeous quality shades are signed "Lightolier" where they slip into the fitter.
The metal of the backplates is normal white metal with a lovely pewter finish. The castings are crisp and obvious of very fine quality. The lovely shaped drop in shades are simply so unique both as to shape and decor. They even have a slight iridescence to them, which is very attractive. Being original shades, nearly 90 yrs old, minor "NEVER SEEN" flakes are where the shades are slipped into the fitters. These sconces have been completely rewired with true Bakelite sockets; new switches (which are identical to the 1930's types by Leviton) and wire. Everything here, both shades and backplates, are original. The mounting nut in the center of the backplate is an exact reproduction since the originals were missing when we received the sconces. Very minor indeed.
Sockets are rewired, UL approved for up to 100 watts each.
Measurements: Max overall height of 12". Max width: 5 ½" It will project into the room, from the wall a mere 5 1/2".
Price: $325.00 for the pair, plus shipping. « Less

Interesting wrought aluminum Arts & Crafts pair of sconces. Circa 1920 or so...very interesting offering having DEEP hammered pewter finish.
We are especially impressed by the way that the shades match the backplates. It is hard to see in the pictures, but that large tan area below the embossed floral clear decor band, is crackled or hammered rough finish to match the finish of the backplates. Hard to see in the pictures but very impressive.
Completely rewired to UL Standards and ready to go. Each sconce does have a switch which has been replaced by the same maker "Leviton" who made the same switch at the turn of the century.
Measurements: 13" tall. The widest part of the sconce is the shade that is 6" wide. It will project into a room a mere 6 1/2".

There was a time back in the 1950's that these shades were reproduced for consumers decorating in the Victorian style. Not a lot of them survived but some of them were made pretty darn well. We believe that this is one of those shades which gives a nice ambiance.
To make one of these is not so easy. First you had to have the art glass sheet. Then you had to cut each blank to size. Next was the "slumping" process where the flat cut out piece is laid up on a die that takes the shape you wish to create. It is put into a high temp oven and allowed to almost melt. The glass becomes soft and sags...or "slumps" over the die that has the shape you wish to create. After the slumping process, annealing takes place so it does not shatter when it cools and then some edge grinding and finally assembly. Not all the glass pieces survive.
Measurements: 17 1/2" tall but could be lengthened by adding chain links, or...reduced to as little as 13" by removing all but one link. The shade has an 11" diameter and takes one 100 watt bulb.

A PAIR of matching Art Deco period two light close ceiling chandeliers. Excellent for a lower ceiling where substantial light is desired. They could, if desired, be mounted with a pull chain for off/on at the fixture. Or, it can be used with a dimmer wall switch.
While they were produced just slightly before the true Art Deco era, they would have nicely graced a home from 1920 to 1940 with authentic ease.

These chandeliers have been totally rewired to UL code with new sockets and wire and are ready to grace a lovely home.
Each socket is fully capable of 100 watt incandescent bulb each.
Measurements: 14 1/2" wide with a drop of only 7 1/2 ".
It fastens directly to a UL approved electrical box by the center finial. All mounting supplies will be furnished.

Very interesting French turn-of-the-century chandelier with "white" mica paneling over the reticulated section. Made from solid brass, this chandelier has a interesting mix More »
Very interesting French turn-of-the-century chandelier with "white" mica paneling over the reticulated section. Made from solid brass, this chandelier has a interesting mix of other components. The crystal dome at the bottom just seems to make this light come alive. Then there is a covering of "white mica" over the pierced rococo style design center. A quality design.
Taking it one step further, when we re-wired this fixture, we decided to give it the added dimension of Induction Lighting (lasts 60,000 to 100,000 hours).
One of the pictures shows the inside of the fixture with an induction circle lighting the entire light. The induction bulb is using only 40 watts, but is outputting the equivalent of 264 watts of incandescent light. We love this adaptation but...perhaps you won't.
Even though we carry replacement bulbs, alternatively, you COULD replace it with any mogul based incandescent bulb if you so wished. We just think it is neat that this old light can have a "green" adaptation too. And since the bulb is not seen directly, it would be a bit of a mystery to your friends and a definite point of "green" discussion and knowledge.
Overall Light Measurements: Height: 28" Spread: 22"
If you wish a longer light, or just slightly shorter, we can do this for you by adding or subtracting chain.

Circa 1930's, these sconces are finished in an oil rubbed bronze (near black) finish with brass highlights. They have an interesting opal shade with a clear waffle glass More »
Circa 1930's, these sconces are finished in an oil rubbed bronze (near black) finish with brass highlights. They have an interesting opal shade with a clear waffle glass panel for that extra bit of light. An interesting thing about that waffle panel is that the shade does spin in it's fitter so the waffle panel can be turned sideways to focus more light on a face if the sconces were put to each side of a mirror. For that matter, the waffle can also be turned 180º to face the wall if it ever got to be annoying for some reason.
Electrical: These sconces have been totally re-wired in our UL shop. Normal bakelite sockets for everyday medium base bulbs. The backplate has a rotary switch for on and off. The sconce mounts with one normal sconce mounting all-thread to a normal electrical box from within the case. All mounting hardware will be supplied.
Pair of American made late 30's sconces.
Measurements: 7 1/2" tall. The backplate's round area has a maximum width of 3 3/4". Projects into a room from the wall 5".
For the complete, UL re-wired pair of sconces, $295.00 plus careful shipping. « Less
