For sale is a lovely Art Pottery Tile made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The item is called a "Tea Trivet Tile". It is a very pleasant size as it measures 5 5/8" Square and is only 7/8" Tall.
The Tile Displays a Dutch Harbor Scene of a Woman in Dutch Dress and a child holding onto her apron. They are looking into the Harbor where a boat with a mast is moored. There is a Windmill in the background and tightly clustered trees with their foliage. The detail is just wonderful. You can even see the Shoreline!! There are wonderful vivid pastel colors of Country Blue, 2 shades of Green, Rose, Coral and 2 shades of Brown, with Lavender and White. There are a lot of Glaze Colors in this Tile. I can count 9 different Glazes in it. This tile sits on 8 applied feet all along the bottom edges for stability.
The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The only issue to report is some minor peppering in the Lavender and Coral glaze. This happens quite often with the Tea Trivet Tiles. When you put a much lighter colored tile in the oven after much darker items were in the oven beforehand the lighter glaze can pick up small pepper spots in the glaze. This does not hurt the Value what so ever!
The piece is signed with the Impressed Reverse RP Rookwood Pottery and Sunburst Logo along with the Roman Numerals "XXIX" for the year of manufacture, 1929. There is also the mold number "3203" impressed just below the date. This is a quality Tile made by one of America's foremost Pottery Manufacturers of the early 20Th Century. I'm quite sure the buyer will be quite pleased with their Purchase!! « Less

For sale is a splendid Arts and Crafts piece of Art Pottery made my Hampshire Pottery of Keene, New Hampshire. The Piece is a "Chamber Stick" or "Candlestick". The Glaze is More »
For sale is a splendid Arts and Crafts piece of Art Pottery made my Hampshire Pottery of Keene, New Hampshire. The Piece is a "Chamber Stick" or "Candlestick". The Glaze is done in Hampshire's most Popular Matte Cucumber Greene Glaze. The Ewer is 2 1/2" tall and 4" in diameter.
This Chamber Stick displays a very nice Mottled Cucumber Green Glaze. The Glaze has wonderful charcoaling throughout!! The Deep Matte Cucumber Green Glaze Rivals any Matte Green Glaze produced by Grueby Faience of Boston, Mass. The Candlestick is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There is a area on the inside of the candle holder that is a little light in the green glaze. On the opposite side is a glaze pin pop inside the candle hole.
The Candlestick or Chamber Stick is signed on the bottom side with the Impressed "Hampshire Pottery" Script Lettering plus the Mold or Shape Number "145" in raised relief. It also has the incised M inside a Circle mark. This dates this piece to Circa 1904-1914. These were the years that Cadmon Robertson worked and managed Hampshire Pottery. He used this mark as a tribute to his wife Emoretta, who was the daughter of the Founder, James Scollay Taft in 1871.
Hampshire started producing Matte Glazes in 1891. This was 7 years earlier than their main Competitor Grueby Faience of Boston, Mass. Hampshire Pottery resembles the style of Grueby but were much more affordable as they were mold made pieces as opposed to hand thrown.
I would consider this an excellent example of this Matt Green Glaze in both form and Glaze. This will make a wonderful addition to any matte Pottery collection of Art Pottery and would look great on that Stickley Mission Arts and Crafts Bookcase. « Less

For sale is a Lovely Art Glass Vase made by Orient & Flume of Chico, California. The Vase is a beautiful Floral Pattern and it is done in their Crystal Cased technique. L.C.T. Tiffany Favrile did a similar technique and he called it his Paperweight Technique. The Vase stands 4" tall and is 3 3/8" in diameter at the shoulder.
The Vase displays a wonderful Floral Pattern of Lilac Anemones with orange pistil centers and small trailing white vine flowers above and below these Anemone Flowers. The Base glass is a deep Eggplant purple encased in a clear outer glass. What a nice Art Glass Vase that will please the most discriminating Art Glass Collector.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips, or dings. There are some minor scratches on the bottom and this is typical age wear. The piece is signed on the bottom with Orient & Flume's paper label as well as "Orient & Flume" written in script along with the letters and numbers"CC1984 M88 ". This means this piece was made in May of 1984 and was the 88th Crystal Cased "CC" Paperweight Technique Vase in that decor.
Orient + Flume was started by well known glass artist David Hopper who got the first MA in glass from San Jose State (SJS) in 1969 and his wife Shari Maxson Hopper and their partner Douglas Boyd who got his degree from SJS in a combination of glass and clay. The partnership ended in 1982 and the glass production after that has changed since David was the lead glassblower everyday and Douglas has not blown glass since the late 70's.
This is a quality Art Glass Vase made by some of the Finest Art Glass Blowers of Today. This will look wonderful in any Art Nouveau Decor as well as enhancing any Art Glass Vase Collection. « Less

For sale is a Lovely Art Pottery Bowl made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is called "Pinecone" and it is done in their most highly collected Blue Background Glaze. This Pattern and Color is one of Roseville's most desirable to Collect. The Bowl stands 2 3/8" tall and is 9" in diameter outside handles measurement. The inside of the Bowl measurements are 6 3/8" in diameter.
The Bowl has a very pleasing Blue background Glaze with the Background behind the Pine Needles being a lightly peppered sand colored Glaze. The Vase depicts very realistic handles in the form of branches joined to a Pinecone with Green Needles protruding from the Cone. The Pine cone itself has very nice detail done in a light brown glaze color. The inside of the bowl is very clean and shows a wonderful Speckled Tan-light brown Glaze.
This was Frank Ferrell's most popular design that he ever created while working at The Roseville Pottery Company. In fact, the company would have had to close it doors if it wasn't for the success of this line. The Pinecone line was considered the most Popular Line ever made at Roseville Pottery and that is still evident today. There are 4 colors that the Pinecone Line was made and they are Blue, Brown, and Green and Pink. Pink Commands the Highest Price and is Rarely seen. Blue Commands the next highest price with Brown not too far behind.
The Bowl is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks nicks, chips or dings. The Vase is signed with the Incised "Roseville" mark along with the mold number 354-6". There is also the number "4" and the letter "D" written in the same Blue Background Glaze. More than likely this was the finishers number and Artist Initial. I also saw in impressed number 7. I would assume that was a different finishers number as I rarely see an incised number on the bottom of Roseville pieces.
This is a quality piece of Art Pottery that will enhance any art pottery collection, especially those of you who collect Roseville Blue Pinecone. The Bowl or Planter was made Circa 1935-1940. « Less

For sale I have a very nice Jardinière made by the Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is known as "Bedford Matt Green" and it is outstanding. The Jardinière is a good size as it stands 6 1/4" tall and is 8 1/4" in diameter.
The Jardinière Displays a very Nice Frothy Mottled Matte Green Glaze. This Glaze is very similar to Hampshire's Cucumber Matte Green Glaze and I suspect that Weller created the Bedford Matt Green Line to specifically compete with them. The Shape is a very pleasing Tapered Shape with a Closed in Rim. This could be used on a small pedestal or on the Floor as a Floor Vase or a Center Piece displaying Flowers.
The Jardinière is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The piece is unsigned but it has the Painted Blue Green Glaze on the bottom side. This is a tell tale sign of unsigned Weller in the Bedford Matt Line. There is an Inclusion on the inside bottom and you can see a little bit of a calcium deposit ring on the inside. This is minor and only mentioned for accuracy. Those of you who decorate in the Arts and Crafts, Mission Style will surely welcome this accessory into the home. It will also enhance any Matte Green art Pottery Collection.
This would look outstanding with anyone Decorating with Gustav Stickley or Mission Arts and Crafts Furniture. I'm sure the lucky winner will be very happy with their Purchase. The Bedford Matt Line was considered an early line by Weller Pottery Circa 1905-1920. « Less

For sale is a very Lovely Vase made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ. The Vase is called a "Tall Neck Ovoid Vase" and it is done in one of Fulper Pottery's most beautiful glaze combinations. The Vase is a nice size as it stands 8" tall and is 5 1/2" wide bulbous measurement. The top opening is 3 1/16" in diameter outside measurements.
The piece depicts a Rose Famille background Glaze that is accented with a Deep Frothy Mottled Green Flambé Glaze. The Glaze Drippings and Runs are just wonderful as you can see. The Neck rises up above its bulbous bottom giving this vase its nice size. Along the bottom you can see just how thick and gloopy this Rose Famille Glaze really is as it stops just shy of the underside.
This Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. Usually there are several small glaze pops with Fulper's Glazes. I am extremely pleased to report there are none. The Vase is marked on the underside bottom with Fulper's Racetrack Ink Stamp Signature mark. This would date this Vase to be made Circa 1922-1928. This is a real Popular Shape with the Fulper Pottery Collectors and was known as shape number 644 in the Fulper Catalog Pages.
This is a wonderful example of this Form and Glaze from Fulper. I'm sure the Lucky Buyer will be very pleased with their purchase. This would look outstanding on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts style Bookcase. « Less

For sale I have a very nice piece of Art Pottery made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. I would call the Shape a Tapered Swollen Vase. It is a nice size as it stands 4 7/8" tall and is 4 1/2" in diameter at it widest point. The opening in the top is 2 1/2".
The Vase has a very pleasing "Country Blue" background glaze. The form has a large hole in the top and swell out at the neck and tapers down to the bottom. The embossed design is that of Wild Roses entwined between 2 Vines or growing on a Trellis. Such a pleasing form that is not all that commonly found.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Vase is signed on the underside bottom with Rookwood's Impressed Reverse "RP" Sunburst Logo along with the Roman Numerals "XXVI" for the year of Manufacture, 1926 and form number 2589.
This would look outstanding on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts Style Bookcase. I'm sure the lucky buyer will be extremely pleased! « Less

For sale is a very nice piece of Art Pottery made by Hampshire Pottery of Keene, NH. The item is called a "Tankard" or "Mug". The Tankard is done in the much sought after Matte Green Glaze. The Tankard is a nice size as it stands 5 1/2" tall and is 5" in diameter from the outside Handle measurement.
The Tankard has a wonderful Matt Cucumber Green Glaze. This Glaze was a trademark of Hampshire Pottery. The Tankard displays an embossed Holly Leaf and Berry pattern at the top of the Vessel. This Pattern surrounds the entire top of the Tankard. There is a wonderfully applied handle that appears to have reeded beads running vertically from the bottom to the top on each side of the Handle. The Handle has what looks like a Leaf on the flat exterior side when viewed closely. It also acts as a thumb rest when holding the Tankard.
The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks chips or dings. There is some crazing in the glaze and this really adds dimension to the Cucumber Green Texture. There is also a shadow of what appears to have been a paper label that was on the bottom of the piece. The piece is signed with Block Letter "JST & CO KEENE NH." Impressed Mark. This can clearly be seen.
I believe this to be a very early mark prior to Cadmon Robertson's tenure with Hampshire. This would make this piece Circa 1891-1903. Hampshire Pottery was producing a Matt Green Glaze 7 Years ahead of Grueby. Grueby started producing matte green pottery in 1898.
This is a not so commonly found item from Hampshire Pottery in Matt Green. This is an Excellent Example in both Form and Glaze. Those of you who are decorating in the Arts and Crafts, Mission style will surely welcome this beauty. It would look just outstanding on that Stickley Bookcase.
