For sale I have a very Rare piece of Art Pottery made by The Cambridge Pottery Company of Cambridge, Ohio. The Item is a Vase and the pattern is "Lily Pads". It is done in an absolutely beautiful Arts and Crafts Deep Rich Matte Green Glaze. The Vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 5 3/4" tall and is 3 3/4" in diameter at its widest point.
The Vase has a rather interesting shape and I would call it a "Tapered Cylindrical" shape. The Vase depicts a beautiful Arts and Crafts Pattern of "Lily Pads". There are 3 uniquely shape Lily Pads surrounding the vessel. The form is mold made but I firmly believe the definition in the Lily Pads were tooled or enhanced by the Potter. When the thick tooled lily Pad design was added, the form took on more of a hand thrown look. Any unevenness around the rim or in the thickness of the walls is a direct result of the "Tooled" process. It gives this vessel a definitive hand-thrown appearance. Maybe that is what the final applications of the tooling and heavy matte green glaze were indented to create. The definition in the Lily Pads and Stems is wonderful. The Matte Green Glaze is one of the best I have ever seen for richness in color tone.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are a few areas on the vase that are light in the Glaze. This is common on this form as I have only seen 2 others in my 36+ years as a dealer collector and their glaze was quite similar. The piece is unsigned but it displays that Ohio Valley Clay beneath the matt green glaze. You can see the 3 rectangular shaped stilt marks on the bottom. This helped tremendously in identifying the manufacturer of this Vase.
This is a wonderful and Arts & Crafts Style Vase. It has a Great Theme and it is considered quite rare!! I feel the Matte Green Glaze rivals that of Grueby, Weller, Roseville and Hampshire Pottery. This vase was made during the height of the Arts and Crafts Movement, Circa 1900-1910. This would look outstanding on that Stickley Arts and Crafts style Bookcase. I'm quite sure the buyer of this will be quite pleased. « Less

For sale is a nice piece of Pottery made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is the highly sought after "Bushberry" Pattern and the shape is a Vase. The Vase measures 6 1/8" tall and is approximately 4 1/8" wide outside handle measurement. The outer rim measurement is 3 1/8" wide and the foot or base measures are 3" wide.
The Pattern Displays very Detailed Embossed Maple Shaped Leaves and Clusters of Bushberries hanging from a Stem. The Vase has Branch style handles with a Bark texture. The background of the Vase resembles that of Tree Bark with a Horizontal Grain thus giving this Vase that Life Like appearance. The Background Glaze is a Terra Cotta or soft Orange/Brown with wonderful deep sage greens applied to the embossed leaves and in the background.
The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks, or dings. The Vase is signed on the bottom with Roseville U.S.A. in Raised Relief along with the mold number 30-6". There is the number 2 written in a Black Grease Pencil and more than likely was the finishers mark. This is a lovely piece of Art Pottery in a very desirable pattern. The mold is crisp and the retail is just wonderful. I'm sure the buyer will not be disappointed.

For sale is a wonderful Arts & Crafts Design Vase made by The Rookwood Pottery Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. The Vase is a Tapered Ovoid Shape. The Vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 6 7/8" tall and is approximately 3 1/2" in diameter at it widest point. The top opening is 2 1/4" in diameter outside measurement and has a 2" inside diameter opening.
The Vase displays a wonderful Arts and Crafts design of vertical paneled leaves. These are nestled inside of an incised pointed paneled border. There is a stylized four Petal Flower at the top of each pair of these leaves. The design repeats itself three times. The Vase has one of the Rarest Rookwood Pottery Glazes I have ever come across. I would described this as a Blue Crystalline on Mat Tan and Brown glaze. There is definitely 2 different brown tone glazes here. The crystals are applied evenly around the vase. When held to the light, these crystals shows their deep rich blue color. The Vase has a very carved organic look to it.
The piece is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. Looking inside the Vase it shows minimal use. The piece is signed with Rookwood's Impressed Reverse "RP" and Sunburst Logo along with the Roman Numerals "XXIV" for the year of manufacture, 1924. There is also the mold number "2438" impressed under the date. The bottom shows just how thick this glaze really is.
This would make an outstanding addition to any Art Pottery Collection and would look just great on that Stickley, Mission, Arts and Crafts Style Bookcase. Those of you whom collect rare Art Pottery Glazed Vessels do not want to let this one slip by!! « Less

For sale I have a nice piece of pottery made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is "Zephyr Lily" and the shape is a Tall Double Handled Vase. More »
For sale I have a nice piece of pottery made by the Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is "Zephyr Lily" and the shape is a Tall Double Handled Vase. The Vase is large as it measures 10 1/2" tall and is 5 1/2" in diameter outside handle measurement. The Base or Foot of the Vase measures 4" in diameter.
The Vase depicts tall lilies with slender stems and leaves in the background. The Flowers and Leaves are done in Raised Relief. The Background Glaze is blended from Moss Green To Sienna Brown. The Flowers are glazed in a Creamy Yellow Color and the leaves in a Sage Green. There are 2 Large Applied Handles that start at the Waist and are joined at the lower Neck of the vessel. This form is desirable and shows minimal signs of use. The inside is very clean!!
The Vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, or chips. There is a small nick on the bottom outside ring. This cannot be seen when displayed and it is insignificant. The piece is signed with the raised relief mark of Roseville U.S.A. 137-10". There is also a Letter H in Black Grease pencil which is more than likely the finishers mark.
This is a large piece of Zephyr Lily and are usually found with cracks and chips. They are large and got knocked over. I am Happy to report that this one DOES NOT have cracks or chips. This is somewhat a Rare form as it is Hard To Find. Purchase with Confidence as this would be an excellent addition to one's Art Pottery Collection especially that of Roseville Zephyr Lily.
This Vase was made, Circa 1946. « Less

For sale is a wonderful Arts and Crafts piece of Art Pottery made by The Marblehead Pottery Company of Marblehead, Massachusetts. The Shape is the very desirable Mission Shape Low Bowl or Planter. The Bowl Stands 1 5/8" tall and is 7 7/8" in diameter.
The Bowl or Planter is covered in a Smooth Speckled Indigo Glaze. This is also known as the infamous "Marblehead Blue Glaze". This is such a Pleasing Matt Blue Glaze and I can see why it was so popular during the day. The Inside displays a lighter Matt Robins Eggs Blue Waterproofing Glaze. The two tones of Blue look outstanding together.
The piece is considered to be in very good to excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. There are a few areas inside the Bowl that show wear in the lighter blue glaze. You can feel the finger grooves on the inside corners as this was a hand thrown piece. The piece is signed on the bottom with the Impressed Ship Logo along with the Initials "M" and "P" on each side of the sails for "Marblehead Pottery". There is also a Paper Label as a added Bonus.
This is a very nice example of this form and Glaze. This is the Harder to Find Low Bowl as it is only 1 5/8" tall. They just don't make them any lower. I have only seen a handful of these in my 38+ years as a Collector/Dealer. I am quite sure the buyer will be happy with their purchase. It will look just wonderful for those decorating in the Arts and Crafts, Mission Style Decor. It would look outstanding on a Stickley Furniture Bookcase.
Marblehead Pottery was established in 1904 by Dr. Herbert J. Hall as a Studio Art Pottery in Marblehead, Massachusetts using the art and technique of ceramics manufacturing and decorating as a rehabilitation and therapeutic aid to local sanitarium patients at Hall's Devereux Mansion Sanitarium. Marblehead Pottery stopped producing Art Pottery in 1936. Marblehead Pottery was a small Pottery Company never employing more than 6 workers. Their Pottery is considered somewhat scare as compared to their Contemporaries of the day. The collectors that have collected their pieces rarely let them go. « Less

For Auction I have a lovely piece of pottery made by the Peters and Reed Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The shape is a Vase and it is the ever popular "Moss Aztec" Line of Art More »
For Auction I have a lovely piece of pottery made by the Peters and Reed Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The shape is a Vase and it is the ever popular "Moss Aztec" Line of Art Pottery. The Vase measures 6 1/8" tall and is 4 5/8" in diameter at the top opening and this is the outside measurements. The inside opening measures 3 7/8" wide.
The Vase depicts an embossed Daisy Style Flowers on long stems. The piece is glazed in the Moss Aztec technique which is a Terra Cotta with a Verde Accent applied over it. It resembles Moss that grows in shady areas as it is in the crevices or lower relief areas of the design. There is a very large amount of the Green Moss in all the low areas of the Vase. There is a waterproofing glaze on the interior so you can actually use it. The Crispness of the Flowers are realistic and very well detailed.
The piece is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The Vase shows minimal signs of use. This piece is unsigned however, it is guaranteed to be Vintage Peters and Reed from the Moss Aztec line. This is shown in the Sanford "Peters and Reed" Book on page 79 as Shape #171.
Peters and Reed Pottery (1897-1919) was bought out in 1920 and the name was changed to Zane Pottery of Zanesville, Ohio. They still produce some of the same styles as Peters and Reed. They changed from Red Clay to White Clay Products in 1926. Frank Ferrel designed this Line for Peters and Reed. He was employed there from 1906-1918. In 1918 he left Peters and Reed to work for Roseville Pottery.
The piece was made Circa 1910-1915. « Less

For sale I have a Lovely piece of Pottery made by The Weller Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The pattern is "Cornish" and the form is a Squat Vase. The Vase measures 5 1/2" tall and is approximately 6 1/4" in diameter at the widest point. The rim measures approximately 1 11/16" wide outside measurements.
The Vase depicts a Mottled Caramel or Terra Cotta colored Background Glaze. Weller considered this their Brown in this line. There are embossed leaves with a stem that has berries hanging from it. The Leaves overlay three rings that surround the Vase and there are 2 Mock Scroll Handles applied on each side. The back of the Vase is Plain except for the Mottled Glaze. The leaves have an Olive Green Hue to them and three of the Berries are Glazed in a black glaze. The other two are Glazed in a Pale Green as if they have not ripened as of yet.

For sale is a beautiful Jardinière made by The Nelson McCoy Pottery Company of Roseville, Ohio. The pattern is "Scroll" and the shape is called a "Jardinière, Planter More »
For sale is a beautiful Jardinière made by The Nelson McCoy Pottery Company of Roseville, Ohio. The pattern is "Scroll" and the shape is called a "Jardinière, Planter or Ferner" and the Glaze in known as "Blended". This lovely Jardinière is a nice size as it measures 6 1/2" tall and is 7 3/4" in diameter.
The Planter depicts a border of Embossed Scrolls around the top rim separated by a round bead between each scroll. The "Belly" of the Jardinière has vertical alternating reeds that are molded in high and low relief. The shape of these reeds also alternates in shapes of Elongated rectangles with Elongated Ovals for a very nice Arts and Crafts effect. The bottom third of the Planter is finished with four horizontal rings to complete the look.
This is a Spectacular example of the Blended glaze and is by far the nicest one I've ever had the pleasure of owning. The base color is Green as that is the color of the interior as well as the background color on the exterior. This Planter has a rainbow palette of colors that drip from the top almost all the way to the base. The colors are Teal to Country Blue, Fuchsia to Purple, Tan to Rust, and a warm Brown at the Base.
The Jardinière is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is signed with number "15" inside a Shield with a Circle around it. The is The Nelson McCoy Pottery mark and dates the Planter to be have been made, Circa 1925-1929. « Less
