An extraordinary pair of antique Art Nouveau cast bronze door plates with swinging keyhole covers, circa 1900. This door hardware features a graceful elongated design, with abstract Art Nouveau detail at top and bottom, and beautifully ornamented swinging keyhole covers with an unusually shaped keyhole. This is a handsome antique three-light flush mount brass chandelier, dating from the 1920’s with its original glass shades. The chandelier features a flower-like gadrooned center with an acorn finial. Three simple shade holders hang around the perimeter of the chandelier, each with a glass shade ornamented with geometric detail. This ceiling-mount light fixture is in good antique condition with some minor dings; it has been professionally rewired and comes with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. A fantastic pair of antique brass Art Nouveau single-arm sconces with original hand cut glass shades, circa 1900. The backplates of the sconces feature stunning Art Nouveau looped ribbon detail that is repeated on the sconce arm and on the shade holder. Each sconce has an original wheel-cut shade ornamented with clusters of grapes. These wall lamps are in excellent condition; they have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. The shades are in very good antique condition with a couple of minor fleabites around the rims of the shades (see picture). The sconces measure 12” tall, 5 ¼” wide, and project 6 ½” from the wall. This is a remarkable vintage tilting door peep hole, patented in 1947 by Abe Nichols and Joseph Spector of Los Angeles. (Actually, we thought it was so unusual that we bought the door it was in, just to get the peephole.) Unlike ordinary peepholes, this one tilts and swivels to facilitate “inspect[ion]” of “a person desirous of entering or attempting to enter the room or home.” This swiveling peephole has a lovely patina and functions well, and includes its original screws for mounting it to the door. The chandelier begins with a volute loop ornamented with a polychrome crest; below, five heavy brass bands support a wide, hammered brass ring that forms the chandelier body. The chandelier arms, each ornamented with a shield, hold crenelated bobeches with a red rope border and a spike finial. Between each arm, the chandelier is ornamented with volute detail and crests. This door hardware is in excellent condition; it has been cleaned and can be used as is, darkened, or polished as desired. Each doorplate is 8” by 2 3/8” overall; the doorknobs are 2 5/8” tall, 1 ½” wide, and 2” deep. We have antique mortise locks also available for use with this hardware. An antique cast bronze doorknob set by Yale & Towne, circa 1910, with signed cast bronze rosettes. The knobs feature a radial design in the center, surrounded by a beaded border and bellflowers; the edge of each door knob is ornamented with a larger beaded pattern. The rosettes feature a matching design of beads and bellflowers. The set includes the doorknobs on a Yale three-part split system spindle (originally for use on an entry door, but suitable for an interior door as well), and the two matching escutcheons. A wonderful complete set of antique Eastlake door hardware, including the door knobs with connecting spindle, backplates, and decorative mortise lock. Dating from the 1880’s, this set features cast iron doorknobs with a stylized flower and a zigzag border; the cast bronze doorplates feature a coordinating design with stylized leaves, flowers, and geometric detail. A smaller repetition of the plate design ornaments the cast bronze faceplate on the mortise lock. This set is in excellent condition. The doorknobs are 2 ¼” in diameter and 2” deep, and the backplates are 1 5/8” wide and 5 ½” long. The faceplate of the lock measures 5 3/8” by 15/16”. NDKS61   « Less
