An incredible piece of history. This is the scope from an M56 scorpion tank destroyer. This aluminum tank was dropped into the battlefield from an airplane along with the 82nd Airborne. The M56 tank destroyer had little or no protection for the crew. They were assigned with the task of eliminating the enemy's tanks. Because of the light weight, this tank was highly maneuverable and could reach high rates of speed. The tank was equipped with 30 or more shells for a 90mm gun. The scope is constructed of aluminum and brass and retains the original paint. The optics are truly first rate and offer incredible and clear vision near and far, it is fully adjustable. The scope was used for sighting the gun. It is offered with a custom made stand. « Less

India
late 19th Century
A pair of wooden carved and painted deity figures from India. Both are from the ex-collection of George P. Bickford, and later from Mahruhk Tarapor. George P. Bickford graduated from Harvard University in 1922. He went on to become a missionary in CHina. It was in China where his love of art and collecting began. He made the trip home to the States through India and discovered the beauty of Indian art. Mahruhk Tarapor is the former Director of Exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She, too, is an avid collector of Indian art. It is my distinct pleasure to offer this pair of figures. « Less
